a few days ago there was an article in our local newspaper (Belgian) that luxury companies are increasing their prices just because they can. according to the newsopaper the crisis was over for luxury goods and teh people who have not bought anything for so long because of the crisis are now buying a lot.

literally, stocks (not shops) in Europe was empty because of the low euro....shops are packed with people flying from all-over the world, not just asia but also americans, middle east, blablabla...

the luxury brands see that the demands are high, and thus they can increase the price. this is how they make money.

Not only LV/Hermes/Chanel were heavily attacked, but also other brands, eg. prada, gucci, roger vivier, louboutin, burberry................

i suspect that there was a price increase wef 1 Oct. i bought my 32 kelly box sellier on 1 Oct for €5550... when the SA told me the price, in my heart, i was thinking shouldn't it cost €4xxx?

i asked the price for 35 kelly retourne in togo/clemence, the SA said its €6000! if he was correct, this will mean that there is an increase of 20+% from the price on Jun 10 at €4900!

OMG! that's a lot. that was supposedly the price of the birkin right?
i went to europe back in july and as far as i remember birkin was 5900 euro

do you think he's just saying it or is the 6000 euro price tag is true for a kelly ?

My SA in Paris just got back to me and assured me that Hermes has not raised their prices in France.

Could it be that the price differences listed in the Price Thread are a result of different leathers? Most of the base prices for Birkins and Kellys are for togo/clemence... chevre Birkins are about 300 euros MORE than their togo/clemence counterparts.

Avril - the prices you listed, are they for Paris? Or other EU countries?

thanks for the update. i feel better now (as i thought i was hit by the 1 Oct price increase). :p

im not too sure if the price for the 35 togo/clemence kelly is €6000... as i bought the box sellier instead.
