Price Increase 2/1?

5% increase everywhere from beginning of January.

They have been adding 5% on top of all the prices at the beginning of each year, for the last few years.
It is a LOT if you just think that this 5% is being added, every year, on top of the price that was already increased the previous year, so price increases end up being EXPONENTIAL. It also ends up in being much more than what inflation is.

Hermès is really becoming too expensive in my opinion, there are more and more items that I think are not worth the expense anymore.
Birkin and Kelly themselves are really up to the exxxxtreme limit of what they are worth.
It is sad because it is the first time, after years of being a loyal customer, that I have these negative feelings.
And all this for items that aren't this exclusive anymore because I see them on all the Kardashian style girls in the world, and on all those who happened to have better incomes two months ago for the first time in they life? Pfff, excuse me?

I personally have already started to reorganise my priorities. I am focusing more on the purchase of some furniture or antiques, fine jewelry (at real jewelers, not Hermès), or even plans for eventual small but fun but real estate investments, instead of Hermès shawls, bags or leather jewelry.

Hmmm....that's interesting, trama turgo.....thanks for sharing that bit of info....it's like H has it's own annual sales tax (this, in addition to any increase in one's regular government sales tax)....although it may not cause a real decrease in demand for H items for those who love/can afford their products, sure gives one pause.....for me it raises the question of what price H would charge someone who made a SO in 2009 or 2010 but did not receive the item until 2011? I would assume the 2011 price....what do you think?

2011 price of course, I am 100% sure.
All existing stock, as well as newly produced items, get the new price tag (except for those little things that you may find during the sales, wich still have the price tag of the year that they were put on sale minus the sale reduction). All items will have the new increased price tag, regardless of the year when they were ordered or produced.

Absolutely trama turgo is correct, for SO's you pay the current price of that item when it comes in, not when you ordered it. AND, any pre-existing stock will have the new price tag as well.

I also heard that if there was going to be a price increase it would be early February. Price increases have in the past sometimes occurred twice a year. Bags don't always go up with each increase, but I suspect that they will this February (disclaimer: I don't have any inside information about this, but this is my intuition)

I also heard from my SA that prices would be going up in the first week in February.
It kills me that a normal birkin will now cost over $10k with tax. And once they go into the magic 5 figures, I am not buying. For five figures, I want Verdura or VCA.... You get my drift. And if scarves come close to the increase they had in Canada, yikes they will be getting expensive for what they are.

Well said, trauma turgo! The second-hand market is sure to heat up as a result of the price increases. Personally, I am hunting for my next bag in an under-the-radar designer, not just an under-the-radar H bag.

There was no increase on scarves in Canada.

We already had a price increase here in Europe.
Cashmeres went up in price with 40 euro and 90 cm silks went up with 12 euro.
Don't know exactly about the bags yet.

the price increase will only stop when H notices a drop in sales of those items.

when Jypsiere was first introduced and price very similar to a birkin, very few people bought it. in some countries, on the subsequent year, the price was adjusted downwards or remained the same.

if there is another adjustment for leather goods this year, i would be curious to find out if Jypsiere pricing will have any movement.
