Check out Switzerland. I think it is somewhere in the thread. The price is definitely higher than EU. And the refund tax is Global Plus or something for foreigners which is less than 8 per cent (that is tax in suisse) because of the store policy. Also they usually get a bit agitated (depends on who is in charge of bags and the canton) if you ask for it.
Not sure this will help but I think it is a major one to consider.

Ok, I removed the tax from the US, Canada and Japan prices so this is based on the stated prices in the price thread:
France: 100%
Canada (pretax): 112%
US (pretax): 119%
England: 119%
Hong Kong: 123%
Japan (pretax): 124%
Australia: 128%
Singapore: 138%

i think Canada price should be roughly 20% more than france, just for all leather Garden party PM it's 3680 CAD and france is 2270Euro (2043euro after detax)

Yes true - it is difficult to factor in how much the minimum spend is to be considered worthy to get a birkin because it varies a lot by store/SA/person.
Sorry I might be calling it incorrectly by saying GST but I wanted to apply some sort of tax to the US, Canada and Japan prices since all the other countries have sales tax embedded in the price, and I read in the 2014 price thread first page that Canada has a 5% tax, Japan has 8%, and I just applied a general 9% for US as an approximation of NY/California taxes. Obviously take it with a grain of salt!

Interesting idea! Throughout the US, different cities have different tax rates. Just for reference, if someone is shopping at H in Chicago, the sales tax is higher than the rest of the state. The city of Chicago has one of the highest sales tax rates in the US (or so I've heard). It is 9.25% on purchases. For comparison, San Francisco is 8.75%, Beverly Hills and LA are 9%. NYC is 8.875%. Las Vegas tax is 8.1%.

In California, the taxes differ by county (we have 48 counties) - San Francisco tax is 9.75%, I'm sorry to say. Don't know what it is in LA/BH.

Are there Hermes stores in US states with no sales tax? I was sad when the Saks in Portland, Oregon closed (even though their selection was awful) because it was like having a 9% off coupon everywhere you go!

Just off the top of my head I know that Pennsylvania (King of Prussia Hermes) does not charge sales tax on clothing and scarves are included in that amount but I don't know about other items such as handbags. I only know of one other state that doesn't have a sales tax but there is no Hermes there (Oregon).

Hermes in Hawaii is a good deal because their sales tax is only 4.85% (or close to that). That's a nice savings on a big ticket item. However, if you have something shipped to you in another state you will be charged the state or local rate.

Hermes in NJ does not ship leather goods - big ticket items unless you go into store, purchase and then they will ship and charge appropriate state sales tax to final destination.

PA and NJ have similar sales tax policies, there is no tax on clothing or scarves. At King of Prussia it's 6%, I think NJ has changed in the last year but I don't shop in NJ much. There is sales tax on leather goods, bags, wallets etc. In the city of Philadelphia, sales tax is 8% but there's no H in the city.

The basic rules of sales tax in the age of online shopping is that the retailer is supposed to charge the applicable sales tax rate on online orders if they have a brick and mortar store in that state. My guess is if you ordered H and had it shipped to Oregon, Delaware or New Hampshire there would not be any sales tax as there is no sales tax in those states but also no H boutiques.

I make the trip to Delaware occasionally for the Apple store, it's so great to buy Apple with no tax-like a discount!;)

I don't know if this Hermes policy is still in effect, that you must buy it personally even if you are shipping it. Step daughter in PA wanted Hermes bag in stock at NJ store. It could not be shipped unless she came in to store. I could buy it for her in NJ and have Hermes ship it to her. It was explained at the time as trying to control the bags and not have them go to resellers.
She could not phone in order to NJ and ship to PA.

I think this an across the company rule with Hermes-not specific to NJ/PA.

I was only referring to scarves, other items, etc that you can call and charge send or anything purchased from Hermes.com

I did not know if that policy was was still in effect .My experience has only been with that PA/NJ purchase. Poster had mentioned tax rate in Hawaii and that helping with larger purchases - I guess that will not be happening .
