Why is it irritating to miss on a bag? Am I so irrational I believe I can snag every D&B bag I covet at the perfect price.
I saw an Alto fina in black someone sold NWT's for $100. I have two in other colors and love them. I gave up after looking the last 6 months and just spent 3X as much on a different style. Fingers crossed I like it and it arrives in good condition. It was the last one on ILD. I'm suspicious it's a return.
I hope it arrives and you love it. I hope if it is a return, it still has the tags and wrappings on it, and it wasn’t used with hair and remnants from whoever returned it. I get very irritated thinking about that used bag they sent me.

Believe it or not you can snag it. The bag you are looking for will pop up at the right time and right price for you and you will have it. When you least expect it, you will be like gasp there it is!!! I have my search set to alert my email if what I’m looking for comes up for sale, on eBay and Mercari. Not sure if poshmark has that setting. I’ve seen rare items I never thought would come up for sale. Being in that price range sweet spot is a different story.

I try to stay within budget, and so far everything that I've purchased had been worth every penny. The quality of Dooney and vintage coach I know will last me many many years. I don’t baby my bags when I use them. With winter weather on the horizon, big puffy coats, snow, ice and salt from rubbing against the car, this will be a learning experience for me With Florentine leather.

I just started buying bags again this year. I hadn’t bought anything since before the pandemic. I was carrying my vintage coach collection and I was content, until I got tired of the nonexistent organization, huge black holes of my duffle sacs, and everything just all over the place just rolling around Never being able to find anything. I only had 2 pouches, my skinny case and chunky case, which didn’t help much.

I love your level of patience to wait for the right item at the right price.
I have the kiss lock leather I use as a small cosmetic case, but after seeing your beautiful accessories, I think a set of three would keep me organized and make switching handbags a fast change-up. Thanks for the idea.
The idea of getting a yucky return is not a good thought. I am a bit of a perfectionist. Being the complainer that I am, I will be sure to run here, and bore all of you with the faulty bag.

Since I only have this set, which I am sooooo happy with, it really makes it easy switching bags. This set was not new so I got each piece separately and very cheap. I know where everything is and don’t have to repack the small tedious stuff.

Please let us see the condition of the bag as it was sent to you and give us your impressions. I’ve seen returned bags unboxed and they look great, nothing wrong and still in the factory wrap covering everything. And the I’ve experienced a used return with no tags and nothing factory protected on the bag. I think it makes a huge difference knowing you are getting a new, unused bag. I get people may return because the bag might be too big or heavy, but don't taje off the factory wrap and use the bag know that you won’t keep it.

My opinion: don't fixate on whether the bag you get from ILD looks like it's
factory fresh or repackaged or even a return.... as long as the bag is in good condition
and worth the price you paid.

If you bought the bag in a high end store or even
a Dooney retail boutique, it would have been handled by others. It could even have
been bought and returned. But we don't think of those things.

We all want a new bag luxury experience and if you are paying full list price,
then you can set that as your standard. But if you are buying at an outlet
or online outlet, at a discount, then it's a trade-off between the price and
the presentation. Remember, after you unpack the bag you don't carry around
the wrapping.

I hope your bag is in perfect condition and you love it. If not, pretend you are
in the store, see that bag at the price you paid.... would you buy it or pass it by?
If you would pass on it, for the price, then you should consider returning the
bag. If you would buy it, then just enjoy your new treasure.

My 2 cents, for what they are worth. Feel free to disregard.

Yes, I agree. I do not care if it is a return and the wrap on the handles are removed or something like that, but used/scratched would bother me.
I have kept bags with a few minot imperfections. My concern was after reading the reviews for the bag I ordered on ILD. Someone gave the bag a 1*review because it was an obvious return with a hole in the leather. Another reviewer said they had received a lovely bag but it came with the wrong strap. She requested the right strap and was told to return the bag if unhappy. I just don't want to get a return that has been returned.
The bag I ordered was $725.00 on sale for $299.00. It was the last one.
Off subject, but a little suspicious these days because I have been trying to resolve a credit card fraud issue. It isn't a fortune (just shy of $126) but customer service is worthless at my credit card company.
I believe my card was skimmed and duplicated. Credit card company said I used or allowed someone to use it and benefited from the transaction. Thus, I am responsible. Not to sound like a brat, but I have never been in the store. I went in after it happened to try to get info and I couldn't find anything in the place if I tried. It was one of those dirty dollar stored (DG).
Anyway, filed a police report, cancelled card, reported to Ohio Attorney General, FTC, complaint to DG store requesting loss prevention specialist, US Dept. of Treasury ( could not help) and another complaint to Consumer Financial Protection Bureau. Multiple phone calls and complaints and 10 days later I am stuck paying for a cart load of dollar store junk for a stranger. Any ideas anyone?
I am changing the credit cards I carry for grocery store ect. I guess time to use a digital wallet before someone fraudulently charges a big amount.
I'm trying to explain, at least a little why I hope the bag is decent, because it was listed as a final sale and my luck has been a little off lately.

That situation with your credit care being fraudulently used is terrible. And even worse
is that the credit card company didn't stand behind you. Sounds like you did all the right things. Hopefully your new credit card company has better customer service and customer
relations policies. Sometimes it's hard to know until you run into a problem.

I know that most people don't use cash these days and instead use credit or debit cards.
But I still use cash when dealing with smaller stores and in gas stations and
often in restaurants. I just don't want my credit card out of my sight unless I
have some confidence in the establishment. Still no guarantees, but at least my
card isn't left in a gas pump or copied in an office somewhere.

I don't know enough about digital wallets to be of help. And I don't use a debit
card because it doesn't have the same protections as a credit card. Your money
is gone and then you have to fight to get it back with a debit card if there is a
problem.

The only 'good' news in your story is that the $ amount wasn't major.
Still a loss, unnecessary and not your fault. And a lot of stress and effort
on your part to correct the problem. Not to mention the shock and disappointment
of a credit card company that didn't support you. It's crappy. We work hard
for our money and try to save when we can to enjoy little luxuries.
Don't let something like this upset you for too long. It gives the thief even
more power over you!

I really feel sorry for my neighbor. She is a fantastic cook and baker and a repair technician for her sub-zero refrigerator bent the hinge?/door? on her freezer and won't fix the damage.

He claims the cold from the freezer will eventually shrink the 1" door gap and it will close. It's been over a month. She is recently widowed after her husband was ill the last couple of years. She works, helps lots of people any way she can and provided her husband with excellent care during his health problems. He just died this past July. It seems to be getting harder to receive good customer service these days. A new sub-zero is not in her budget after the passing of her spouse

I was getting rid of bags, and I gave my neighbor a new D&B bag I never carried. Also, another that looked new after being carried lightly. She said they were the nicest handbags she has ever had in her life. Another D&B convert.

That is horrible to have your card basically hijacked. I am sorry this happened to you. Hopefully it is resolved to your satisfaction and your new credit card has better customer service. I’m not too sure about digital wallets. I’ve made most of my purchases with PayPal. so far I haven’t had any issues. I’ve received a couple refunds thru PayPal as well.
It was so nice of you to care for your neighbor. I’m sure your gifts made her day. I wish people were more caring towards one another. Much love to you.

I had an issue on an order made with Paypal to a major dept store.
Paypal sided with the store, even tho I had proof that the weight of the
package was only half of what I had ordered. (It wasn't a very
large dollar amount either). So, I'm not so sure
about Paypal and I don't shop online with that store anymore.

The only credit card I have found that really supports its customers
is American Express. In my experience, they assume the customer is
right and let the vendor prove otherwise. Other credit card companies
seem to put the burden of proof on the customer.

There is so much credit card fraud these days that these companies
are overwhelmed. Maybe they try to do a good job, but often their
policies work against customers. I don't know if you get better support
if your account is long standing and pristine. Or is everyone treated the
same? Do you have to keep pursuing an issue in the face of their
refusal to help? Do they assume the customer will just accept things
and keep using their card and pay for the invalid charges?
And in the end, is our continued obsession with resolving the issue
doing more damage to our emotional well being than the $ amount
is worth?

The best balance I have found is not to do business with companies
that don't appreciate me as a customer (and I don't mean champagne
or freebies or superficial stuff). If a store or bank or credit card company
doesn't treat me fairly, then I take my money/business elsewhere.
In most cases, there are other options. It removes the stress
and offers some measure of satisfaction. Even if the company
doesn't realize or care that I am no longer a customer. If enough
people did that, it would affect their business and they would have
to change or go out of business.

I noticed I am crossing more and more brands and businesses off my list as places I purchase.
What bugs me about Capital One is the technology is theirs. As a customer I was not a part of the design process and until something goes wrong, I am not aware they do not stand behind their technology.
They claim it is foolproof. My husband used to work at NASA Foolproof is not possible. You have to have a minimum of a Master degree or a Ph.D to get in the place.
Good old Capital One claims a level of expertise above all the other places filled with good minds.
I agree. When companies are problematic it is time to take your business to a place that has regard for the customers paying their salary. I hope this problem happens to a fee attorneys. I smell a nice class action lawsuit in Capital One's future.
Correct me if I am mistaken, but the D&B/ILD sites seem to quickly change their sale and promo codes. I can't seem to find a deal on a small crossbody Alto. I'm trying to replace a bag. I put two black Alto bags on Posh. last month thinking one would sell and I would keep the other, and they both sold within 30 minutes. I have a black bag buy it is very large and dressy. I would like a small black Alto in a casual style. When do the good sales start?

Sorry about all my typos. I don't have big fingers, but poor proofreading skills.

ILD and Dooney change their prices and sales very, very often. Sometimes more than
one promotion overlaps (but they can't be combined). My best advise is to check often
and when the right bag at the right price pops up... don't wait. Alto bags are not included
in most of the sales. Also check ILD on ebay. Same Dooney, just different pricing
at times. Also somewhat different policies regarding shipping and returns, so check it out.

As for Cap One.... not my favorite. Great web site but limited CS at branches and some
very strange procedures, in my experience.
