I’ve never shopped qvc. Are they more expensive than dooney website? I’ve seen them say qvc exclusive and ive noticed they had smaller versions of certain bags. They have a small smith bag and the big one. I had to really look and make sure my smith wasn’t the 13 in small smith.
seems like they’re making the older Toledo satchels in pebbled leather. They are beautiful, all the pretty colors. I Can’t wait to see what’s included in the Black Friday sale and 12 days of dooney. Looking at the older posts, all the lovely Florentines from the sales has got me excited. I can’t wait
Think of QVC as an online major department store... with the advantage of live programming. Dooney has been selling bags on QVC for almost 25 years. Like any
large customer, they work with manufacturers to get exclusive items, or better prices
for large volume purchases. They are also able to negotiate design changes to tailor the
bags to their customers in terms of feature preferences and pricing. And there is often
good info to be found during the presentations (by Dooney reps) and some of the details
on the QVC web site. Even if you don't catch a live presentation, you can sometimes find
them stored on the QVC site or even on YouTube.
So, Dooney bags on QVC are the same quality as any other department store. That said, you need to pay attention to dimensions and leather and other details. It's too easy to assume, as I have done, that the bag you are seeing is the same as the one on Dooney or ILD or even the one you already have at home. Production changes over time plus the
customization done for this large 'store' means the bag may be better or not.... added
zippers, 3 part strap, or change in leather, or dimensions. And just to add to the mix,
Dooney and QVC may or may not measure the bags in the same way..... this has gotten
better over time, but still there can be differences. The Dooney site is very specific
in how bags are measured, but may retailers and other handbag companies measure
the widest part of the bag even if it's the top, while Dooney measures the length across
the bottom. This can make a huge difference is the size and usable space in a bag that's
not a perfect rectangle or one that is unstructured.
As for quality, I don't think there is a difference between QVC and Dooney or ILD. That said, like any department store QVC accepts customer returns and they don't do a perfect
job in screening out returned bags that my have issues or been carried. And since all the bags are mass produced, quality control isn't perfect. In my personal experience, I've
seen the same quality (and rare issues) from Dooney, ILD, QVC, and other major department stores.
As for pricing, QVC is usually list price, same as Dooney for comparable/same item.
QVC runs sales and does clearance pricing, and usually those special prices last only
for a very short period of time. QVC also sells 'as is' (clearly identified) for items
that are returns or presentation demo models. Of course, not all returns make it
into the 'as is' grouping. Many ladies have had great luck buying QVC 'as is' Dooney
bags and say they are generally in great condition and they have same some $$.
Everyone has a different comfort level for a handbag that is not 'factory fresh'....
for some the $$ saved is important, for other they want the full brand new
experience. And some buy preloved bags (not on QVC) and aren't put off by
the fact that they have been handled and used for long periods of time.
Lastly, while you do pay for shipping and returns on QVC, their 30 day return policy makes
it a lower risk place to order a new style or color that you might not be totally sure about.
QVC is very reputable, and I've found their customer service good to deal with over the years.
Hope this helps.
