Positive experience at ARC

i’m going to write about my positive experience at ARC. (context i got a rhinoplasty, manable angle reduction and liposuction/ fat grafting for my nasolabial folds) also i’m sorry if this is all over the place i’m awful at writing.

During my ps journey i was very thorough in my research, using purse forum, real self and gangnam unni to really narrow down what i was looking for and who would be the best match for what i was hoping to achieve with my face. i really wasn’t looking for an extreme drastic change i was more hoping for a my face but better kind of vibe.

After scouring forums and hundreds of reviews and before/ afters i ultimately decided to go with ARC plastic surgery. there were a few reasons for this. firstly i preferred a smaller clinic over those big factory-like clinics that feel like everything is very rushed. my second reason was that Dr kwon spoke fluent english and i saw other reviews of girls saying they never felt rushed during his consultations which i saw as a big positive. looking at before and after photos on gangnam unni also helped my decision as all the girls/guys always looked so amazing in their after photos.

When i first came to the clinic i noticed it was really nice looking and had a calming vibe to it. i also met Dazy (the english interpreter/ consultant) in person and all the previous ARC reviewers were right about her being the kindest person ever. i came to Korea alone so having her throughout this journey was amazing she was always so attentive, caring and just overall a really positive person to have around, i’m so grateful towards her.

During the first consultation i could tell that Dr kwon understood the aesthetics i was trying to go for, especially with my nose i emphasised that i wanted to get rid of the droopy look while still keeping my rounded tip as i felt like a pointed nose wouldn’t suit the rest of my features, i wanted my nose to look really natural which he understood and explained how he would achieve the look i was after. i also wanted to get rid of the hump and not add any height with an implant, i just wanted a overall smoother look to my nose. dr kwon explained the procedures really clearly and even showed me some photos of cases similar to mine.

for my jaw reduction i also wasn’t looking to cut too much off i wasn’t a fan of those tiny v-shaped faces i just wanted my angle to be less prominent and harsh. dr kwon understood this when i explained it, he also showed me my x-rays and where my nerves were in comparison to where he would cut my jaw bone, and said there would be no problem in that area which was a relief. he also never pressured me into getting other procedures like i’ve seen some other doctors do.

Now this is where arc truely went above and beyond. (i’m sorry i can’t remember any of the medical terminology) but on the day of my consultation when they did blood testing they also did tests on my heart at a nearby clinic. when i got home i received a call from Dazy where she informed me there was an irregularity in my heart scans and that we would need to go to a different clinic the next day. i was a bit worried at this point, but the next day Dazy took me to Dr Kwons fathers clinic! there i underwent some more tests from his sister who is also a doctor. Dr Kwon’s sister was also fluent in english which was amazing, she was really reassuring and funny too. basically they found no problems apart from my heart beating too fast, regular people’s heart stays at 60 and mine was always over 100 so she prescribed me some medicine to take for a week then the day before my surgery we needed to check in again to see how it was going. when we were finished with the initial check of my heart Dazy used Arcs company card to pay because they insisted on paying which blew me away. this whole situation though a bit scary really showed me that Arc goes above and beyond with its clients and their safety. i guarantee that some of those other sketchy ps companies would’ve seen my irregularities in my heart scans and just not said anything and went ahead with the surgery. but arc informed me right away, took me to get tested and payed for the whole thing - i really felt i was in safe hands. Dr Kwons sister gave me the go ahead during our 1 week check up and even prescribed me two months more worth of my heart medication because she knew how hard it is to see a doctor in australia lately which was so kind.

the next day after my heart checkup was my surgery day. i was honestly surprised at myself, i thought i’d be super nervous but i was able to sleep fine the night before and really wasn’t too nervous the next day, even Dazy commented that i seemed really calm. we just did all the usually pre surgery stuff- getting changed into the hospital clothes, signing papers, washing face, gargling, taking before photos. then i was being led into the operating room where i feel asleep immediately after they gave me the anaesthesia.

overnight stay-

as soon as i closed my eyes on the operating table i woke up in the recovery room it was such a strange feeling like i blinked and suddenly everything was done, i’m pretty sure i kept trying to say wow that was so fast in korean but i was so out of it and had tubes in my mouth so i don’t think it actually came out lmao. i’ll be honest i was totally out of it when i woke up lol i remember dazy was there and dr kwon came in to tell me everything went well but it was all honestly such a blur. pre surgery i was pretty scared i would vomit once i woke up but surprisingly i wasn’t nauseous at all just super dizzy when i moved so i tried to stay really still.

my overnight nurse was really sweet and was surprised i could understand her ( because we were speaking in korean) she was honestly so sweet i’m really glad i was able to joke around with her about how funny i looked, it helped me feel a lot calmer about being in a hospital alone after a major surgery. she came back continuously throughout the night to replace my ice packs, ask if i was doing okay and to top up my iv, she also brought me water and had to help me drink it cause i was still a mess with the tubes in my mouth lmao even with her help i was still spilling on myself like a baby lol.

day 1 post op

i didn’t really get any sleep in the hospital and when it was time for me to leave in the morning i was still super dizzy i could hardly stand up properly. i was able to tell the front desk i was still feeling really dizzy. they immediately escorted me back to the recovery room and gave me a juice box saying i could stay as long as i needed.

eventually i got the strength to walk back home (i had a great airbnb that was literally only a 3 minute walk from Arc’s clinic). i had some liquids and took my pills/ gargled, i honestly can’t remember much, i was never in any pain i was just feeling like my head was in the clouds a bit so i just stayed in bed the whole time, my throat was pretty dry this day and i had a lot of mucus (gross i know) eventually despite the discomfort i managed to sleep a bit.

Day 2

i would say this day i had the most discomfort but not from pain from the surgery but from the compression band i had to wear. it seriously felt like my head was a ballon about to pop. i would take intervals of 1hour compression band then 30 minutes icing my face. my bruises under my eyes weren’t that bad just a gross yellow colour. i also could technically breath through my nose but i had so much mucus i couldn’t so my throat was SO dry and i actually woke up a couple of times in the night because of it.

day 3

today i went back to the clinic to get my nose cleaned and the tape taken off my jaw and to have a dewelling treatment.

suprisingly my jaw swelling wasn’t that bad at all. the nose cleaning part was actually kind of painful and i was trying so hard not to sneeze when it was happening lol. again my throat was super dry this night

day4-6

nothing much to report. honestly i was feeling way too weak to take walks like others on the forum recommended, and since my swelling really wasn’t that bad on my jaw i just slept and relaxed during these days

day 7

i went back to arc for another check up and dewellimg treatment. the nurse took off my nose cast and cleaned me up before Dr Kwon came in to check my progress. he also mentioned that the swelling wasn’t that bad around my jaw and that it’ll only get better from here. my nose and mid face however looked insane because of my swelling but i was prepared for that based on others recounts and my research, so i wasn’t too shocked or scared about my results, i knew i just had to be patient.

when i got home though i looked at my side profile of my nose and it looked amazing even with swelling.

days 8-10

my bruising is slowly fading and i actually love my nose at the moment, the swelling on my lower mid face is insane though i look like a little old lady hahaha the swelling makes my nasolabial folds look much deeper and also like i had jowels so i was feeling a bit sad at my face and didn’t like looking in the mirror during this period. by day ten my bruises were basically gone but the granny swelling was still pronounced especially on my left side of my face.

days 10-20

i got a few more deswelling treatments( one a week) and the rest of my nose stitches out on day 20 which did hurt a little bit my eyes started watering lmao. on that same day i got a lifting facial treatment which was really nice. dr kwon also came in to check on my progress which i wasn’t expecting because i knew he must be busy being the only doctor at the clinic so it was really nice that he squeezed in time to check on my face’s progress. at this point i’m currently 3 weeks post op and i am still swollen around the mid face where my lipo/ fat grafting was done, but the swelling around my nose and jaw isn’t bad at all. so far i’m not seeing any issues and every day my swelling goes down i get more excited about my final results, i’ll make sure to keep updating this post!

would you be comfortable sharing any before/after pics (perhaps by DM)?
yes i actually really want to post some pictures but i was just waiting for all the swelling to go away before i did, if you’d like i could dm you my current before/ after but just keep in mind i do still have some swelling left!

Unfortunately, I had a bad experience at Arc. The result looked fine, recovery was good. But I cannot recommend it cause even after assuring me that they would listen, they did not listen to what I wanted and cut too much bone. They also contoured it into a single smooth line which is exactly what I asked them not to do because I wanted to keep the angular jawline.
