As I peruse this app looking for my next vintage D&B unicorn, I cannot believe the amount of Dooney fakes on PM.

This platform is filled with counterfeits, and people are asking for ridiculous top $$$ prices.

Does PM even do anything when you report it as a replica?

I worked with a woman who wanted to sell a Coach bag she knew was fake to a second hand store. She was actually upset that they wouldn't buy it from her. She felt it was still worth something. :noggin: She is the kind of person who would try to sell it on PM, or ebay.

I actually got into with one seller on PM. I confess I was very brash in my comment, telling her that her “authenticator” lied to her. 😅 but she is/was selling the fake bag for $250! She claimed it was a one of a kind prototype, and changed her whole post write up a few minutes after I made my comment. Even reverse search of the bag, I found many others like it on eBay. It was so odd because she had 2 actual authentic vintage Dooney’s for sale, and then this monstrosity. I’m like look at your other bags, and compare them to that home-ec project.

I think she got bamboozled with buying that, and she’s trying to save face. But any potential buyers, should know that the bag is fake as hell.

"Home-ec project"

This bag has really been making the rounds this year. Each and every time I see it, I report it. I asked in several fb groups and they ALL SAID BAD FAKE, and proceeded to expound on what was so bad about it. It went from poshmark to eBay for $350.
Nov. 16 was another huge bust of counterfeit goods in new york and I posted the thread about it. Thank goodness they were caught before the holiday season really started. Imagine all this fake bags given as gifts and the recipients looking like what the heck is this?! No getting your money back. It’s like coal in your stocking.

Thanks for bringing this bag to our attentions here.

It's important to see this because of how popular the flo satchel is.

And we were discussing this in the authenticate thread with BeenBurned. I had no idea they were making counterfeits of this, until I did some digging around. Shopping platforms like Temu are selling shells of this bag with no logo. It looks like whoever made that Koolaid satchel bought the shell and glued on a black flo logo.

imitation is so NOT the sincerest form of flattery
at first glance, i could understand why someone wouldn't second guess that bag, and auto-buy it. the inside is pretty spot on (in my opinion). however, the great set of eyes we have in this community, we were able to spot this right away.

it's great to spread that fake bag around, especially with the holidays coming up, so no one gets deceived.

There’s NO dooney patch above the zipper… I don’t think it had a key keeper either. the hardware is not matte, and just looks wrong PERIODT. I’m new to collecting Florentine and I felt something was off

I recently bought what was called by seller Gretta Barlow off Poshmark and when I received it found the serial number tag was sewn into the bag, number side down. The bag was also not a Barlow but a Flynn. I contacted Poshmark and opened a return case and was told to destroy bag and they refunded my entire amount. I thought they handled the situation very fast and were professional about everything. I have using Poshmark for about a year and was unaware of the fakes being sold until it happened to me. From now on I will be asking more questions n to see more photos before purchasing.

would you be reluctant to sell to someone who has no history and nothing in her closet? has been on posh for 18 months or so
I would definitely be a little worried about that only because of the 2nd scammer incident I've had on Poshmark. Basically someone bought a $25 dress I had and sent me a cashier's check and claimed their husband's secretary accidentally put their daughters hospital bill on the same check and needed me to send the $1,250.00 to her. The person was very pushy and I reported it to Poshmark, the bank in California where the cashier's check was supposedly from, and the business on the $9.00 overnight postage they used as a return address. I knew immediately it was scam when I opened the mail and obviously some people fall for this because of the $9.00 they spent to send it. There was nothing more I could've done except to not do any business outside of the app or PayPal. The scammer wanted me to venmo them, go to Walmart n Western Union and as a last resort send them cash. They kept telling me to deposit it in my banks ATM. Needless to say I do know some people use Poshmark to just buy things and don't really have anything to sell. The only thing I'd be worried about is sending ur Dooney to them and they don't accept it and don't send it back. This has never happened to me and I'm assuming Poshmark still releases the payment to u but honestly I don't know. Good question and I'm going to look into it. I've sold and bought quite a few Dooneys and coach and all but the one time went smoothly. And Poshmark really stepped up to fix the questionable Dooney I bought. I do think what ur doing by looking at the buyer and their account is what u should do and I do the same. If you are having a bad feeling about it I've always learned is something to not ignore but also email Poshmark and ask what they suggest. They've always gotten back to me within 24 hours and are very helpful. Sorry that's so long and I hope it works out. Let me know how it goes.
