Pochette NM vs. Eva Clutch: Help me select a small bag!

I have never really been a fan of the handheld gold chain hanging off the eva bag. It just seems messy to me. Does anyone know if it is detachable? If it weren't for that little gold chain I would be all for the eva. Does the pochette nm come with a detachable shoulder strap?

LV newbie so hopefully I don't steer you wrong. Lol. The Pochette does detach, and Eva not completly. I have read that some ladies detach one side and slip it under the zipper and tuck it away. That still seems messy to me. Like all my stuff is going to get tangled. What worries me to is that if I don't tuck it, it will get the plate scratched. That is why I am leaning towards the pochette and getting the 2 straps on the side. Most likely non LV. Plus I am not a clutch kinda gal. I can imagine leaving it all over the place. Lol. I think this helped me make up my own mind. I am getting the pochette. Lol.

I am in the same boat. I had 4 pochettes and am down to 2...so why would I buy another one when I rarely use the 2 I have left? Because I don't have one in Damier! :p

Lots of great discussion about the eva vs. pochette, but what about the damier trousse cosmetic back with the strap? Any thoughts? It is practically a pochette?

I do have an old Damier Trousse pochette (the smaller square ones that I don't think are made anymore). Because they are thicker even though they are shorter, I can get exactly the same items in them as I do in my pochette NM. The only thing is you will be limited by the smaller opening as to the size of wallet you can put in it, whereas you can fit a longer wallet in the pochette. Since I only carry a small wallet, it's no problem.

I think you should try out both bags. But I feel that the Eva will be a better option for you. Simply because you plan on purchasing another strap to wear cross body. By the time you pay for the pochette NM at $500 and purchase a LV strap you are already almost at the price for the Eva. You can always purchase a long chain strap on ebay from sellers such as k-craft or rebirthday that will be much cheaper than LVs' strap.

As far as the sunglass case goes, I think that both bags will be rather difficult to fit that in there along with the other items you need....JMHO

I have the Eva in DE and love it to pieces. You do have to be more mindful about the large plate. I find when I wear it crossbody, to tuck the chain inside the purse through the opening on the side of the bag to avoid scratches. Eventually, I would like to get the Eva in mono so that I can be a little more careful about the smaller plate.

Both are great little bags. Go with the one that you feel the most comfortable with.
Good luck :)

After reading all these lovely and positive comments about Eva clutches- I felt like I couldn't miss out! Just bought a Eva clutch and the MIF was a bonus too. Love my pouchette but wanted something different - taking Eva on next business trip will let you know how it goes.

I would go with the pochette--I actually think the space is more useable in the pochette, thus you can fit a bit more in it. Also, the pochette is quite versatile, since it can function as a small cross-body bag (with the addition of a longer strap), clutch, and organizational pouch in a larger bag.

I've been wanting to get myself a pochette NM with a long strap for the same reasons.. I tried on the Eva and the strap is super long for me (as I'm 5 ft tall). Size is about the same the Eva being a little bigger but for price and care.. I'd go with the pochette;))

Took Eva and pouchette on recent business trip. Pouchette was good for quick shopping trips and walks. Eva added a special touch to business dinners- it was a bit dressier. I suggest start with the pouchette and get an extra long chain from eBay like k-craft. You can't go wrong with either bags

I have a mono Eva and I adore it! It does fit all of the items you mentioned but you won't be able to carrying your sunglasses in their case. They will have to be loose. I carry:

iPhone
Vernis Cles
Lipgloss or lipstick
Powder compact
Mints
Sunglasses without case

The mono Eva is so glamorous. I love the script LV plate and the gorgeous gold chain. I use my Eva strictly for evening so I don't use the crossbody option, but I suppose for most that would be a plus. I personally don't like the large plate on the DE and the Favorite is not as special as the Eva in my opinion. The Pochette is my least favorite. I don't see that as an evening bag at all but I do think its a nice option for running errands or casual outings.

Good luck deciding!
