Ame what does that mean exactly, the table?

As for clarity - wow, I would have thought no one here would go for SI's!! My original engagement ring had excellent cut and F colour but was SI 1 or SI2, and you could see black carbon bits in one corner - it really bugged me. I know they're small and earrings... am just worried about whether they will be eye clean or not under VS2. Am just going by my former research for my new e-ring and on blue nile's guides.
Unless you plan on using these for another item besides stud earrings some day, SI1 at least would be relatively eye-clean. They're on your head though, and not many folks will get close enough to check them out ;)

The table percentage of 55 is kind of a magic number. 55-56 is particularly an ideal range. But 55 is like the middle of ideal range for the table. The numbers across the board for that set appealed to me.

See what you can find in SI clarity though before you just jump in.

My ering and earrings are all eye-clean SI1s. But like AME said, to see SI1 inclusions in earrings would mean someone would need to be very close to your ears. I can't imagine anyone besides your husband would ever be that close. ;)

Ha ha... No I don't think anyone would be that close! :) I just want to feel really good about them as am hoping it's the last pair I buy! :) For $500 I'd feel better knowing I can't see any specs in them. I don't mind clouds much, just not real feathers/carbon.

So much awesome info here guys - thanks for letting me bounce all of this off of you!

I was tooling around blue nile (thanks for making me feel good about the site too! I feel like they seem really trustworthy) and found these (note all categories rate "ideal" - even better than excellent!):

Why These Diamonds Match:

Does Bluenile offer a money-back guarantee?? or full refund?

Nevermind!!! They DO!!

Sufergirl....I like the 2nd pair as well.

I'm considering BlueNile for my wedding band.

I'm not sure how they determine cut, but here are true ideal cut parameters you can look for with each diamond:

Depth: 60-62.4
Table: 54-57

If the ideal diamonds fall into those ranges, I think you should be fine.

Ahertz I would LOVE your opinion on these - thank you so much for this, by the way! I wouldn't have known to look deeper into the percentages but somehow these are 1.4's listed as 'ideal' (not sig ideal, so not $5900) and yet for $5,000 (only $850 more than the 1.2 sig ideals) I could get these ... would you get these? not even sure why they are not "sig ideal"!

Okay so ame... I'm learning so much from this! Thanks so much for the input everyone!

But I'm just putting this to you (from a learning persepective - maybe I'm missing something!!) - it's 0.2% outside of the ideal range. Is that really going to make a difference? I'm getting advice to go down a colour or clarity GRADE... but 0.2% is bad?

It's definitely a set of slightly lesser diamonds - sym and polish are both ex instead of ideal. I just thought they were SO SO close to ideal, and as everyone says they are on your ears... and for $800 I could get 1.4's instead of 1.2's - gah this is so complicated! I just dont' want to get it wrong! :)

Ok.....before you get a slap......oh heck......I'll give you one regardless :bagslap: Listen to the sound advice being given!!!!

Get the 1.2's!!!!! They win hands-down by the majority of us here!!! No one will be able to tell if they're 1.2 or 1.4 in your ears!!! Save the extra $$$ & get yourself something extra.....like a pendant to match! ;)
