New color: Charcoal. What kind of leather is it? Would you say the color is more taupe or brown? It looks so nice in photos, but I do see the leather looks a tad shiny.

Anyone have this color yet in any bag?? I'm thinking of maybe ordering it in a MAM.

There are about 3 different versions of Charcoal. Can you provide a link or image to the one you're curious about?

Hi, this is my first post. I've been lurking for a couple of weeks for help on deciding what RM to get. Since I've had a Charcoal MAM for a week, I thought I could answer your questions, and I can post some pictures later today when I have time.

First, I love the Charcoal color. Too me, it's a perfect fall/winter color. I would say that the actual grey is closer to the Revolve images, the Aster Alice ones are too bluish looking on my monitor. Charcoal is a dark grey with warm brown undertones, not cold blue undertones. The leather IS shiny, but a nice, interesting, eye-catching shiny, not over-the-top shiny. (Same look and texture of the Raspberry leather if you've seen that in person). The leather has some body to it, yet it's soft and pliable - although not nearly as soft and pliable as the Black MAB (not glazed or distressed, pebbled leather I think) that I also have in my posession right now. Hope that helps, I'll try to take pictures later. I'll take picttures of the Charcoal next to the Black for reference.

Thank you so much and welcome to TPF! It sounds like a great color! Would you say that it can match both black and brown very well?

It sounds wondeful! I can't wait to see your pics, thank you!

It's funny, I generally don't go for black or gray bags but there is something about charcoal..

I feel the same about gray bags...I have never owned one. But, I really like the pics of the charcoal bags that I am seeing on Amazon. However, I am not a fan of this season's hardware...too orangey.

Hey everyone, thanks for the welcome :) Here are the pics, hopefully I'm doing this properly! I'll add my thoughts about coordinating black vs. brown and orange-y hardware in the next post.

I think Charcoal goes really well with anything black. In the pics you can see a Charcoal MAM is next to a black MAB and the second to the last pic is the Charcoal bag against one of my black wool coats.

Brown would be a little more tricky if it's a red-brown. I think Charcoal will go well with most browns, but next to my red-brown boots in the last picture...well, that wouldn't be my favorite color combination. Next to the neutral dark brown cork wedges, I think the bag looks great.

I'm still undecided on the Black MAB. The only reason I'd keep it as well as the MAM would be for the extra size. Colorwise, I can't see any time where I'd need the black over the Charcoal. They're pretty much interchangeable, in my eyes. Yes, the shiny-ness of the Charcoal makes it a touch more dressy, but I think a black MAB with gold hardware is already dressy.

Hopefully the pictures can help you decide.

I agree with you about not being crazy about the orangey gold hardware. It IS orangey in real life. I actually bought the Charcoal MAM after receiving a Raspberry Cupid online and *really* not liking it. While I love the look and extra pockets of the Cupid and the Raspberry color, I hated the amount of gold-orange hardware on it (at least triple the amount of metal than a MAM/MAB). The brassy hardware made the bag look way over the top for my style. Oddly enough, I ended up liking that same hardware on both the black MAB and charcoal MAM. And I'm not usually a gold person:smile1:
