Hi I know this is an old thread but what did you decide? I’m in the same situation I have the mono mm and am afraid to use it thinking about trading it in for the DE so I can use it and not be scared.
I'll chime in that I have a Mono NF, DA NF, Mono Petit Noe, and I'm waiting for my Speedy B 35 Mon Mono. I was crazy anal about the vachetta in the beginning but I've learned to unclench on some level. I still don't want dark/dirty leather but I'm ok with a natural patina and the occasional beauty mark. I have sprayed the vachetta on all my bags with Apple Guard. None have seen much bad weather but I've also stopped worrying about every drop hitting the bag.

So this said, I did order my Speedy B 35 Mon Mono for the purposes of a travel bag that will see more wear. I was torn between the DE or the Mon Mono - but I've finally embraced the idea that the vachetta wears with you and tells the story of your life and travels. In fact, I've moved from wanting to preserve the lighter color of my vachetta to wanting to quickly (though still lightly) tan my new Speedy once it arrives.

Overall, I'd say go with your gut. Do you prefer the Mono/Vachetta or the DE/coated leather? I've never been a DE gal (for bags, I have DE SLG's) but at times I've tried to convince myself DE was the way to go because I was afraid of the vachetta patina. I've been thisclose to buying a DE NF (which would have been my first LV) but I went with the mono instead and I'm glad I did. Then I tried to convince myself the DE Speedy was the way to go because I wanted a more "care free" carry on/work bag. But yet again - I decided the DE isn't my style and I can live with patina for the bag I really want.

Thank you for your insight! I’ve been really stressed over vachetta and I’m not sure if it is valid or not. Has your vachetta gotten really dark with wear? I’m looking for an everyday bag I can have enjoy but also relax with.

I actually was in a line for the vaccine the other day and saw a lady with the mono neverfull and was super put off by the vachetta because it was literally so dark brown. Does that happen from normal wear or taking it out in rain? Or is that the level of patina that should be expected.

I would also be looking to take my bag into work as a everyday work bag when the offices open back up. I wouldn’t want to change into a different bag every other day it rains (north East). I did spray my bag with Apple Garde but it still has gotten marked on the vachetta.

I do absolutely love the monogram print it’s very light and airy of a look compared to the heavier print of DE. I love the DA print as well and actually have a DA neverfull im getting for my birthday as a gift but for some reason I love the contrast of darker vachetta on a light canvas such as DA.

Also scared of the summers with humidity and vachetta. Potentially spending a decent amount of time in Florida in the future my company is actually relocating there.

Possibly looking at the world tour neverfull because of the black treated leather option. Or the Damier Ebene with the Rose Ballerine interior to make that bag look a little lighter looking.
