I want to say this is from the Guccissima leather line that started around 2006 when the creative director was Frida Giannini after being the head designer for a few years. Guccissima was the positive term used fashionably back then and akin to today we would say "That's so Gucci !" (Real vs. Fake, New vs. Vintage, Logo vs Non Logo. Subtle vs. Overt) Plus Gucci wanted to prevent bootleggers from knocking off their brand by making it harder to duplicate their items. Branding the leather was just one of the attempts.
