Well IME none of their stones are what I'd call "excellently cut." But that's not the point. I would not have any issues with an "I" colored stone though. Going down in color won't make it "inferior cut" just because it's an I.

I think you are not a fan of tiffany diamonds, i understand its overly priced to some and not all are well cut even though the company claims it is. Nonetheless they have beautiful rings and importantly something that the fiance "wants" i my BiL made the right choice of going with Tiffany :smile1:

Thank you on the comment on color i will urge him to consider the lower color to maximize the size.

And thank you for your opinion, and once i post the specs of the stones i hope you can comment on them to see if its any good :smile1:

oh we will look into that setting too next time, i will post pics of what ever we try so that it maybe of help to others looking at similar settings :smile1:

one question though does the embrace only come in round shape stones? i only saw the round once in the website, for the detail i think the soleste is better but honestly for me the HW micropave is still best for halos (personal opinion of course) maybe i am biased :p

too bad its not in his choice because of the price but i am smiling inside as i hope to be the only one to have a HW ring in the family (mean girls moment :graucho:) i know i know im selfish that way.
I only saw the round stone for the Embrace setting on the website. If Tiffany was a bit closer to me I'd happily truck into the city to go check out the options! :p I only like to go to the 5th Avenue boutique!

Lucky you, it sounds like Ame is advising you on what to look for in a diamond!

If the fiancee likes Tiffany it sounds like you will be the only one in the family with a HW ring, lucky lady! I am putting HW on my list of places to visit next time I'm in Manhattan. :graucho:

Also drop by Graff as well they have an amazing store, but in the end my heart belongs to Harry 😘

I am not a fan of the way they market their diamonds by insinuating, incorrectly at that, that the diamonds they select are somehow superior to any other vendor's stones. There are better cut stones out there, even among their high end competitors, overpriced or not. I own several Tiffany pieces, diamond and otherwise.

Getting her what she wants is all that matters, hence the fact I asked "What does she want?" in my last post, and nothing I said was in any way telling you to go elsewhere.

I understand, thanks again i think my BiL nailed the part of what the fiance wants which is a halo tiffany ring. hopefully he can get the biggest stone in his budget, not a fan of financing an E-ring so i hope he doesn't go that route just to get a bigger ring

I can't imagine she'll wish her ring was smaller....go for the biggest in his budget! Even with the halo, a 1.77 is not outrageously big. It will look gorgeous and blingy!

your future BIL is very sweet and i think its lovely that the 2 of you are shopping for her ring together! I'm sure that with your help, he'll pick an amazing ring :smile1:
i personally feel that the smaller diamond looks more proportionate on a size 4.5 finger... the larger diamond, combined with the double halo, makes it look more like a cocktail ring as opposed to an engagement ring-- normally i'd be all over the bigger rock but I actually think the smaller diamond + this setting looks more elegant. Plus if paired with a diamond wedding band, the whole set will already be incredibly blingy, so i'd definitely pick the smaller one.

Hi Ladies! Can you give me some guidance, my Brother in law asked me to go engagement ring shopping with him to get a ladies perspective.

He is planning to propose in a few weeks time so he is thinking through about this purchase.

He already knows that the soon to be fiancé loves tiffany, and loves the either soleste / embrace rings (as she loves halo designs i think it makes sense to look at these two)

We got to look at the soleste as the embrace is not available today at the store we will go back another day.

One concern he asked me about was proportion of the ring to the ladies finger.

Of course most of us if not all would never say no to the biggest stone that our budget can afford but on the other hand i understand his point on proportion, he wants something elegant looking but has great finger coverage without going over the top.

We have the same finger size well almost US4.5 and i have tried two rings. Soleste 1.04 carat cushion E IF and a Soleste 1.77 carat F VVS2

Please let me know your opinion on the adequate size for this ering? Its not the specifications per se but the over all look on the hand. I for one prefer the bigger stone but with the soleste setting i found the 1.04 is also a beautiful ring.

I want to advice him to go with 1 carat only because its more practical plus gives my brother in law some wiggle room for the inevitable future upgrade down the road

Im Still unsure on the right advice??? Only because i love bigger stones...

Sorry for the long post and hope to hear your opinions on this. I hope i can give him good advice as you ladies have given me in the past :smile1:

***Its also great to hear from owners of the soleste or embrace setting how has it held up through the years?

Took pics of my soleste with bands for reference. This is to give you an idea of what ~1 carat would look like on size 4.5 finger with bands.

Wow! its beautiful on you hand! thank you so much, had no idea we have the same ring size :smile1:

did you also get the soleste bands to match it? i was actually surprised when i saw the soleste setting, the edges are smooth, one worry i had about the micropave is that it may get caught on clothes.

My ring finger is about size 5 so close to your size. I think when I got my ring sized though it actually came out closer to 4.75 when the jeweler measured it.

The bands are actually ones I got custom made since the soleste band wasn't out yet. Two of the bands are alternating yellow and white diamond. I also got an all white diamond one. The price of the three bands was about the same as one Tiffany soleste band!!!

***update!

theres was a new ring that came in the store and we got a chance to see it, ladies we got a winner! :woohoo:

Tiffany Soleste 1.40carat G VS1
Cut: Excellent
Symmetry: Very Good
Polish: Excellent

We think its a good mix of the cut, clarity and color plus the price for this piece is great! My BiL said the ring looks amazing and very happy to see this one, the finger coverage is amazing!

He already took it home and i suggested to him, plan the proposal and go back to the store with the fiance for the resizing to let her experience the warm welcome that we received at Tiffany. :smile1:

Resizing takes 2-3weeks as we are not in the US.

Heres a few photos for those who are also considering the soleste, to be honest i cheated abit on my ring as i also found the soleste very beautiful.

Here is the soleste together with my Pear Classic Winston:

Sorry for the huge photos, hard to capture the rings beauty but the soleste also sparkle like crazy. it also has a great size on the finger as the over all look of the ring is easily comparable to my 2carat ring(quite surprised about that but i think the double halo helps in making it look very substantial).

Someone will be a very lucky lady soon i hope the proposal goes well and that we did good job in getting this ring.
