Please help me decide which one: Dior Saddle OR Bottega Veneta?

Mens saddle in black or neutral (ergonomic integrated seat belt strap, zipper and snap closure, and no clanking HW

while I did not like the saddle the first time around, I do like the mens version. also, the womens saddle is usually GHW, and the mens (designed by kim jones, not MGC, IMO is more modern)

seems like dior has committed to the saddle and the LD as classic silhouettes.

i am not a fan of the BV cassette, and I think it’s unclear whether it will have any staying power as BV creative director has left.

If it helps, IMO, the saddle can be cute and quirky as well as stylish, whereas I see the padded cassette as more popular with influencers currently. i also think the padded cassette is a lot of bag if you are short like me, but IDKW

But, buy whatever you love. If you are unsure, wait. Perhaps neither is right

ETA: i personally would not buy a patent leather bag if I wanted a bag to last. If you are looking to purchase from TRR, i recommend having a third party professional or TPF authentication prior to purchase. If you are looking elsewhere, I recommend buying only via pay pal verified, cc backed, or other protected means of purchase.

Thanks very much. I was pretty sure that TRR sells only authentic stuff,- they claim they do a rigorous and professional authentication of every single item. Do you think additional authentication might still be needed to be 100% sure? Also, I had Fashionphile in mind - they are also a well-known consignment store. Which one, do you think, is safer to buy from- TRR or Fashionphile? Thanks.

For TRR, yes, absolutely you need independent authentication prior to purchase (there is a dior authentication thread on TPF and there are very knowledgeable members on the BV forum)

I definitely think Fashionphile is safer than TRR (though there are some issues there too). Please do a search to ensure you are comfortable

TRR issues re inability to spot some fakes and issues with the no return policy
when I did a brief search TRR Fake, I came up with a variety of threads https://forum.purseblog.com/search/1280150/?q=TRR+fake&o=relevance

Pass on both imo. The padded cassette will not wear well and is very trendy. I love the Saddle Bag, but i think you should go for it in a more classic color like black. It might not always be ‘on trend’, but i think its achieved ‘classic’ status. Kind of like old style BV Venetas. The padded cassette will not stand the test of time in terms of style and materials. Especially if purchased preloved. Patent leather breaks down over time, and improper storage accelerates the process. You have to take really good care of patent to maintain it.

Thss as pls very much for your input!. I will do a bit more research before making up my mind on which one to get and from which company.

Saddle: Unusual shape, (but done before by Dior!), reminds me of a liver. I actually did consider it once because I heard it was quite comfortable to carry under the arm or crossbody.... until I found out that the flap of the bag, is literally just a flap. There is no magnet or anything that secures it in place. It just flops over to close the bag. I personally like some kind of lock or at least a magnet to ensure that the flap stays in place and is less easily pick-pocketed.
FYI, there IS a magnet that secures the flap on the new saddle. It's the strap of leather that hangs down the front (the one w/o the D). That whole strap is magnetic and secures the flap nicely. ;)
