I’m reviving this as I have the same conundrum.

I am looking for a small gold watch that I can wear frequently. I wore more white metals for a but, but I’m wearing yellow gold recently. I have a SS Reverso, which I love but I’ve been wearing my Hermès AppleWatch.

I am torn between a JLC Reverso and a Cartier Tank. I appreciate the fine movement in the JLC and the unique design. The Cartier is less expensive and the quartz movement makes it easier to throw on.

I wonder if I might get more out of the Tank, but I also wonder if I will continue to think about the Reverso. What do you all think?

You'll get more responses if you post your own new thread. Most people won't reply to a very old thread.

My answer is that I have a stainless steel Tank for a casual watch. I could see having both the JLC as a dressier watch and a casual Tank. Are you meaning a solid gold watch with solid gold band or a solid gold case with a leather strap? If you post a new thread, I'd suggest showing pictures of the specific models you are considering. I don't think I'd like my medium Tank in all yellow gold.

Thank you! I ended up purchasing the gold tank on leather band. The watch will arrive on Friday. Hoping that I made the right choice The Tank is was a great deal.

Hi @McLoverly ! I am (was?!) going through the same dilemma and posted the same question in the Reverso thread.

I haven't purchased either yet. I want to wait to try the Solar Beat Tank Must, but after trying the 'normal' tank must and reverso, I think I like the reverso a bit more.

Just wondering what you think now that you've received your tank?

At first, I regretted my decision. I was still lusting after the Reverso and even looked at trading in the Tank. However, I have had a stainless steel Reverso for nearly 10 years and have worn my Tank more in the last month than I have ever worn my Reverso. The Reverso is a beautiful and special watch, but I find the Tank an easier wear.

The Tank is quartz so I can throw it on for dinner or a meeting and then switch back to an Apple Watch for the gym. The Tank is water resistant and also seems to have a more comfortable profile. It seems more durable, while the Reverso feels more delicate.

Thanks for your response! Definitely see your logic in keeping the Tank, since you already have the SS Reverso. I don't have either and I only room for one!

I really liked the rose gold + leather strap Reverso I tried on, but totally out of my budget.

Thinking of settling for the SS + leather strap since I just like the Reverso design. Dilemma now is the SS Reverso is 2x the price as the Tank Must ... so, should I get the Tank and use that remaining budgeted $ towards something else. I do like the idea of the REverso being my first non-quartz watch (even though it'd be the manual wind version).

I went with the tank because I got an amazing deal, but I’m happy with the choice. You can’t go wrong with either. I’ve added a couple of photos of both watches. Sorry, they aren’t the best photos but it should give you an idea of the profile differences.

You have an amazing watch collection! I love your Reverso - it's striking. Having said that, your Tank just pops! Maybe it's the white face with the gold and black. A more classic look and I can see why you reach for it so much :D
