Has anyone thought of doing plastic surgery in Japan? I'm looking to do my eyes, and I'm very interested in a doctor that works under the SBC branch, but I honestly haven't found much at all about doing ps there. Anything is helpful!

I'm wondering about this too. I've seen many Japanese girls who have clearly gotten rhinoplasty, but their result looks so nice and natural. I wonder if they got it done in Japan or in Korea. I presume Japanese people generally have high morality so there'd be little scam clinics and doctors in Japan?

Alot of japanese go to korea for plastic surgery. I do know though that before the rise of korea's plastic surgery industry, japan used to be the place wealthy asians would go for plastic surgery. But because Japan is much more ethnocentric a country its quite difficult to find information on clinics compared to korea that does lots of foreign marketing.

I don't know what you are specifically referring to with regards to scam clinics and doctors but when it comes to pricing in Japan, its rare to be able to bargain. Its usually a fixed price in most businesses and I've never know the japanese to bargain for goods and services.

If a lot of Japanese go to Korea for plastic surgery instead of doing it in their home country, is the plastic surgery industry in Japan almost dead or struggling for many years now?

I'm referring to scam clinics and doctors in Korea. There is a thread on this forum listing all the blacklisted Korean clinics that we all should not go to. Isn't it better that there is no culture of bargaining in Japan? You know exactly what you're paying for and how much the doctor is asking for for his/her service and you would not possibly end up offending the doctor if you ask for a bargain.

Alot doesnt mean all. It just means business wise the japanese plastic surgery industry isn't as developed or as lucrative as the Korean one. Just like how alot of Singaporeans go to Korea to do plastic surgery but it by no means equates to their industry being dead.

That blacklist thread, just take it with a pinch of salt. While some clinics deserve to be on there, for issues involving obvious malpractice, others dont. Every clinic has good and bad results and there's alot of factors which aren't put out there to pass empirical judgement on a clinic so as to shove them onto a blacklist.

Hmm I do see your point about bargaining but I think its more a cultural thing, and circumstantial. Like in Australia you can't really bargain for surgery, and surgery is insanely expensive in Australia. Expect to pay at least 15k and up for rhinoplasty with one of the better known surgeons, and thats not including anesthesiologist fee, OR theatre fee etc.which is about an additional 3000. I've done some surgeries in Australia and how I wished I could have bargained. So i think if in Japan the prices are reasonable then its really not a problem that you can't bargain.

I have been thinking of going Japan for double eyelid surgery too! I know it is much more common and likely cheaper in Korea, but I do prefer to be in Japan vs. Korea as I’ve been there more. Would love to see if anyone has experiences in Japan too!

PS in japan is very good but the style is different, mostly either dolly eyed or super thin but deep incisional creases. You get these sharp-looking, horizontal shape. Korea tends to go for a shallow double eyelid fold and a more rounded shape. I would say Chinese style is somewhere in between. They are really good too.

I agree with you PS in Japan is very good and their style is more natural. I was planned to have DES on mid of this year anyone can advise some good surgeons in japan.

Me too! Japan surgeons seem to promote often via Instagram, not sure if you're aware of some of them? Please let me know if you have received recommendations from others:)

PLAZA Clinic and VERITE Clinic are my first choice at the moment , they often get mentioned on posts regarding to plastic surgery in japan.Btw can you give me some link of the instagram page where the Japanese surgeons promote themselves ?So I can have more choices. Also do you planned to hire an agent or a translator to help you deal with communication barriers ? If you do ,can you tell me where to find these agents and translators since I can’t find any online.

I'm currently looking at @dr.yuzawa on instagram, if i'm not wrong he was previously from SBC (most of their surgeons have usernames beginning with SBC_, you can check them out!) and only started out his own clinic near the end of last year. I feel like he achieves very natural results but i haven't got to research about Plaza or Verite yet. Can i know where you view posts regarding them? Do you also have specific surgeons that you're looking for? Also, i don't think i will be hiring a translator if the clinic provides reliable translations!

Haven’t gone to SBC but if you read the google review some of the famous on social media doctors are getting bad reviews? If you see the doctors are from SBC or TCB you need to do extensive research - google review, Twitter, or local app called Tribeau (トリビュー), and we do use Gangnam unnie app here too.
I mean any doctor in general you do need extensive research.
Was looking into rhinoplasty doctors here, made a list of people with good result and long wait list:
Tetsu Sou from zetith @zetith_tetsu
Nagao Shinji from the Roppongi clinic @dr.shinji_nagao
パク・クァンミン from Baum clinic @baum_park
Hosoi Kosuke from Logic beauty clinic @kosuke_hosoi_rhinoplasty (Osaka)
They do both silicon prosthesis and ear or rib cartilage rhinoplasty. A lot of cases are also revisions.
They don’t have English interpreters so you need to hire one, even to just book an appointment you need to make a phone call.
Approximate price for rhinoplasty is around 2million yen or close to 15kUSD. But if you agree to do モニター (having your face shown on social media, full or partial) you can get 10~30% discount.
I’m still weighing whether it’s better to do it in Japan or Korea..
