No I don't think most people can afford to fly in just for consultations and then fly back for surgery. I have heard of some people that do as many as 10 consultations before choosing a clinic. I think the more sensible approach is to research very thoroughly before your trip and narrow it down to 1 or 2 places you want to visit. It is much more realistic and a lot less stressful. Plus, you should pick a doctor not a clinic so you can research most of that information before you even leave.

Id say 3 clinics is probably the max you could visit on one day as consultations tend to take a long time (with photos, X-rays, speaking with consultants, doctors and waiting around (a lot!!))

If you are concerned that your chosen doctor may not be available when you fly over then that's when it's a good idea to lock everything before you fly so that you can be sure to get your surgery slot with your chosen doctor. I have had experience going with someone who did not have a confirmed surgery spot and it meant they had to go with a different surgeon because the head surgeon specialising in the surgery was already fully booked. Myself, I always book my surgey spot months in advance. I like the piece of mind and always research everything to within an inch of its life so I don't have too many decisions to make right at the critical time haha:p

does that mean you do your bartering before you leave? what if the final price is not right? do you get your deposit back?

In my experience with Korean surgeons, there is little to no point bargaining with them online. The prices you get quoted online are so vastly different from what you end up paying you might as well not even ask.

If you are time sensitive and need a particular date AND they require a down-payment to secure your surgery spot (which they don't always) then pay it. If you don't need a surgery day locked in in advance, obviously you have more flexibility around deposits.

Always do your bartering in person right before your surgery. That is when you are in the best bargaining position. Even if you got a discount before that online or something, go again right before!

If you know what the going rate is for your surgery and have proof of what other clinics are charging (ie. emails, ads, clinic blog posts, Korean pricing etc) take all of it with you and use it to negotiate.

You should find out from the individual clinic what their approach is to refunding deposits.

I've never had a situation where the final price was not suitable (but again, you can only know this when you know what the going rates are, hence why it is important to research and find out this information ahead of time).

I wish I can remember the site I read years ago when this one Vietnamese girl went to Thailand for her revision and the picture of her eyes reminds me of yours. I will never forget that thick crease scarring she had, almost as thick as yours. Maybe you can still Google it, but I wouldn't even know what you can type in the search field to find it as it was many years ago and there are millions of PS blogs now. I tried searching for it and to no avail. Hopefully, it's not too serious and maybe it will get better with time. If I were you, I'd most likely seek out a 2nd or 3rd opinion from different PS surgeons, to see what they think. It just doesn't look normal, despite it being only 3 weeks.
Thanks for your help. What do you mean crease scarring? There is not really any signs of scarring, just weird. I am so confused. I've sought out about five different clinics (2 doctors, 3 consultants). One doctor says it is too early to tell, the other says it will likely heal naturally but he probably was just trying to get me to relax. The consultants were more honest I think. They said it will not heal naturally. Only one told me that it should be fine. I do not know what to do. I am so depressed.

I have contacted the line, 360mc and JK. The line replied very promptly, they answered all of my EXCEPT quotes. Did you feel such a hassle or maybe just luck of the draw?

I think this is a bit of a trend for clinics not to quote you until they see you in person. It happened to me too recently at iWell. They just ignored the question about pricing altogether. I wouldn't be too worried. The Line is quite reasonably priced

JK and 350MC both came back with quotes, to my surprise 360MC was cheaper.

JK
Arms: 4,500,000 KRW or more
Abdomen: 6,000,000 KRW or more
Thighs: 7,500,000 KRW or more
*Compressed garment: 200,000 KRW / per piece

360MC
Whole Abdomen(incl. Flank)+ Love Handle(under 88cm) 5,060,000
-Whole Thighs+Hip line(under 62cm of thighs): 6,380,000KRW

-Whole Back:5,060,000KRW

or Bra line: 1,980,000KRW

http://www.koreakoreakorea.com/package/5305/ Looking at the rates provided by this website, its still almost double. I assume this is the local rates?

I'm surprised all clinic came back advising they need to remove the stitches after operation. I mean most of clinic uses dissolvable stitches. Anyone know if they do in Korea or they just making it more work than it is and charge you as much as they can?

I've definitely seen prices a whole lot cheaper than that for arms, abdomen (around the 2 million mark) and thighs (around 2.29 million) with specials.

So I'd say the market rate is more like half of what they've quoted you.

But I think I've read somewhere before that 360MC is pretty consistent with their prices and won't drop down much because it is a large chain.

As for stitches, surely they can't do dissolvable stitches for lipo? Smaller areas it is possible

Hi everyone, I just had double eyelid revision, lateral, epi and ptosis correction done in Korea. Don't want to say the name of the clinic because it is still early (abt 3 weeks). The crease still seems too high and the eyelid skin seems like it's sagging and hollow. My surgeon told me the height will drop by "at least half" but I do not really believe him, as nothing much has changed and the swelling basically has stopped. I am afraid that he has removed too much skin. He says this is not the case, but again, I do not really believe him. Also there are two creases, one from my first surgery and all the residual swelling seems concentrated in that area. You can see this in my picture. I am not happy about this at all. Please let me know if any of you guys went through this as well. It would be greatly appreciated.
what clinic did you go to? who was your doctor? I am getting eyelid surgery in Seoul in October....please let me know?

I'm so happy to have found this thread! I'm Korean-American and am getting eyelid surgery in Seoul in October. I've never been to Korea before, but been saving for years, and I'm really nervous.

The subway seems really good. Should I try to get car service from my hotel to clinic, or is traffic bad and subway is faster?

Does anyone have any recommendations for where/who to get eyelid (pstosis) surgery?

Or, does anyone have any warnings for where/who to stay away from?

Here's the clinics I'm considering, I'd love any suggestions or opinions or advice:

 • Wonjin
 • Pitangui
 • Banobagi
 • JW
 • TL
 • Samsung Line
Also - the online consultations (via emailed photos) I've been getting have been mixed. Some say I need incision, some say I need non-incision. Does anybody have any experience with the non-incision methods for eyelid surgery?? The clinics say it is "rare" that they become "undone" but I don't know what rare means. I've saved SO long for this trip, that I don't want to end up with something that will fall out later. But, I also don't want to push for incision and have my eyes cut up if it's not necessary.
