Hi everyone, I’m hoping someone who had their VCA earring posts changed from the original thick ones to the thinner post can share pics with me.

bonus if you have side by side comparison.

thank you in advance

2 out of 4 were lengthened and the backs loosened.

If I knew in the beginning this option was available, I’d have it done to the first two pairs I’ve ordered.

it’s hard to take photos of the post but it is a hair thinner.

Hope this helps

Thank you so much! How come you can’t go back and get the other two done? Was there a cost to get them changed over?

It’s free when you purchase. I believe you have 90 days to decide. You may have to check with your SA.

I didn’t know about this service in the beginning. And of course it’s too late now. I have to pay out of pocket. Which I don’t mind, but there isn’t a VCA in my state.

If you decide you want that done, I believe the earrings become a final sale/non refundable-non exchangeable. So if there’s a boutique near you, try them on and make sure you like them before getting it done.

I'm in the process of getting mine extended. They were gifted to me over the holiday and the posts are way too short. So I called and asked about it. Since I am in the 90 day window it is free. It's kind of a whole production. I have to send it back to the store that the phone SA was able to locate one (8 hours away) and it has to go through the motions from there vs going to my closest store.

When I had a local VCA (it was in NM and closed this Fall), I would just go in and ask about changing the posts and my SA would bring out a little drawer of spare parts and unscrew my posts and put in the longer ones. There are at least 3 versions of length and width combinations. They have a special tool to screw and unscrew them easily. If you have a local VCA I would just ask your SA if they can replace the posts for you at the store.

If the posts are thinner does it tend to make the earrings droop more on the ear? I was always afraid that would happen if the posts were thinner.

It does not for me, the weight of the earrings and the tightness of the clip dictate whether they droop. The post should not impact how closely the earrings fit to your lobes, that would take an adjustment to the spring on the closure.

Thank you for the explanation. I pierced my ears later in life and my holes are very tiny. Add to that, I’m not that comfortable forcing thick posts into them. I should probably get the posts on my pave frivoles changed. Maybe I’d wear them more. I never knew that was an option! (Funny I’ve had contact lenses almost all my life and have no problems putting things into my eyes, or even doctors putting things into my eyes, but putting earrings into my ears is not something I do easily!)

I think you should! No sense stretching out your piercings to fit in a too-large post!

I've been reading this thread, and the related one (link below) with interest, as I've been pondering a few pairs of VCA earrings. Apparently I may also have puny ear holes! Mine were pierced by my pediatrician when I was 10, and as he used a gun type instrument, I assume mine are some sort of standard size hole. :shrugs: Up until recent years, I had no trouble whatsoever. But then I found I was unable to wear Hermes horn earrings (they use a very thick, surgical steel posts) and also found I could not wear my platinum/diamond Tiffany Circlet earrings (with thick, platinum posts). Both were so painful! I gave away the Hermes earrings, and had my local jeweler turn my Circlet stud earrings into drop earrings. I'd not heard anyone else talk about this issue, so I appreciate hearing about it here!

I'd rather deal with VCA directly, so will need to order online. Can anyone comment on the thickness of the mini Frivole post vs the small Frivole post? I'm thinking I'd need a thinner post on whatever I order!

Here's a link to the other thread regarding earring post woes!

I have this problem as well. I also had my ears pierced with a sterile gun and despite not having any problems otherwise, I cannot wear earrings from these French brands - Cartier, VCA, Hermes and Chanel. Waiting for my VCA SA to see if she can find thinner, longer posts. If she succeeds, I am in trouble.

I did not have my ears pierced with the gun type piercer. When my daughter wanted her ears pierced, her pediatrician said to go to the mall where they do it with the gun. Long story short, they pierced HER ears, and I fainted (seriously). Anyway, her ears closed up and she wanted them done again but I was afraid of scar tissue etc so we went to a plastic surgeon. When i heard the doctor tell her: “ok I’m going to use novaCaine to numb your ears”, I said “novaCaine? You’re using novaCaine? I want my ears done too then!” And that’s how I ended up with pierced ears!
