Bluewyvern,

How dare you accuse me of being 'underhanded'! Who do you think you are? You don't know anything about me, and I fully resent what you have accused me of. I find your post incredibly rude, and shortsighted. I couldn't believe my email when I read the forum feed! I had to cool off for a day or two before I could respond.

Although I really shouldn't bother gratifying your post with a response, I had honestly never heard of Botkier before finding that bag (Note that you have never seen me in this forum before). It was only when I got home and researched the brand that I realized I had gotten a really great deal. The bag that I found as a replacement was appropriate - it was a similarly sized nice leather shoulder bag. There were no other Botkiers to compare to. I was at at a Saks OFF Fifth just after Christmas and everything was DEEPLY discounted as they were clearly on a mission to move past season stuff out - there was even a 'Buy two bags get one free' promotion going on that I did not take advantage of (God knows what you'd think of me then). If the Botkier did have a price tag, maybe it would have been $100, maybe a little more, who knows. It definitely would not have been substantially different from what I selected. Either way, it was not my responsibility as customer to select a fair price for the bag. My sole mission was to get the thing outa there and onto my shoulder, which I am proud and excited to have done : )

Reflecting on the net value of the transaction, perhaps Saks Off Fifth is out $40 (AT NO FAULT OF MINE), but Botkier has gained a new fan who is far more likely to make future purchases than she was before, perhaps even at Saks Fifth Avenue. Net gain for Botkier, not to mention the advertising I will do for them as people check out that beauty on my shoulder.

Finally, 'How times have changed'? At what time did women not appreciate getting a good deal on a handbag? Not any time I can remember!
These comments you got from a brand new user, who hasn't contributed to this forum other than being rude, are so ignorant.

Don't worry, you did nothing wrong. Enjoy your beautiful new Botkier, it looks gorgeous on you! ;)

this
I would think most new members would be researching and maybe learning
The idea that this person used her first post to judge someone says something about her IMO

Yes, starting of with spreading negativity is just not how one should begin a Purseforum journey. Why not enjoy all the beautiful bags and be inspired instead? That's what I'm going to do right now! ;)

Hardware - you did nothing wrong. Most of us have lucked out with a good buy on something in the same way. Stores often look for, or ask us to look for (as in your case), something similar to scan and get a price when a tag is missing. I have had it happen more times than I can remember. If the store doesn't know what to charge, its staff does the best it can. You supplied a bag that the staff felt comfortable accepting. You are blameless.

Enjoy your lovely new bag and try to forget some anonymous, ill-bred woman's rudeness.

I appreciate the support sdkitty and sunnyflies! Everyone is so nice on here that it's really jarring when some creepy vouyeur clicks 'reply'. And thanks for your accolades on my new bag! My favorite thing about it is its wearibility. The length of the shoulder straps is perfect and the fact that the base hits below my elbow instead of being a bulky lump beneath my arm make the bag really comfortable. I haven't gotten much use out of it yet (strikes me as more of a summer color) but I sure can't wait to! What a find!!!

Hardware, I followed your saga....so sorry you had some anonymous person judge you like that! I am new to TPF too and enjoy reading stories of people getting a great deal of something beautiful :-) Enjoy your purchase.

I'm soooo excited! I have 5 very old Trigger bags (2 small, 2 medium, 1 large) that I absolutely love, but don't use as often as I used to because of the colors (pastels) or size (small is too small, large is huge), and 2 of them I purchased pre-loved, years ago. There have been times over the years when I wanted to buy a new one in a bold color, but they weren't available at the time, or Botkier only had snakeskin patterns that I wasn't fond of. But today I looked at their site after not checking it out in a long time, and I ended up ordering a new Trigger in cobalt blue! I can't wait to get it and use a NEW bag where the top hasn't been crushed down and the lining hasn't been stained by a previous user. I've seen the posts about quality not being what it used to be, and I'll be able to compare once I get it, but I have to say that I just really love this style and find that the pockets are just so awesome for staying organized without making a big effort like you have to if your bag just has one big compartment.

Congrats! I'd love to hear more from you on your review once you get your new Trigger! :flowers:

I'm totally with you on the Trigger style... The organisation in this bag is just fabulous! I've got two from around 2009 and 2011, and still love them -- one of the best out there!
