It's comfortable either way. The handles are long enough to carry comfortably on the shoulder, yet not too long to carry on the arm. And it's very light-weight!

How's the leather on your chalk colored sacthel? I've read on other posts that the leather varies depending on the color.

It is a soft, slouchy, good quality leather but it's not thick and pebbly. I would not say that it is a buttery soft leather. It's kind of vintage looking. And this leather has a matte finish rather than a smooth, or shiny, perfect finish. The bag holds it's shape when there is stuff in it, but it slouches when it's empty. I hope this helps. That's the best way I can describe it. Perhaps pseub can describe it better?

I don't know how to describe the leather either. It's soft and crinkly, matte (not smooth) although the black has a bit of shine. It's so different than anything I've seen elsewhere, and it's light but sturdy.
