Peridot ring: yellow or white gold?

I am so glad someone else loves Peridot! I adore it, but it seems like people hate on it way too much.
Anyway - gorgeous ring! I like it in the yellow gold. Do you only wear yellow gold? (I don't wear any, so personally I'd go with the white gold) <-- but I love what it looks like in yellow.

Thank all who replied. My parents already bought it for me in yellow gold. It is getting fitted, so I don't have it yet. The thing is I hardly ever wear yellow gold. I have some things I can wear with it, but I do prefer white gold. After a lot of looking at it, I think I like the yellow gold set with the peridot. I always wanted this ring, but waited to get it because of this delemia. My question now is.. (and don't throw tomatoes at me), can I wear the two golds together? White and gold? Is that tacky?

Now that's a tough question! I have a feeling if ppl respond to your 2nd question they are going to say you can mix & match the 2. I even WANT to say go ahead, why not?
Buuuuut, (here's where the darn 'but' comes in) it's one of those things that is easier said than done. Personally I don't know if I could. It's one of those things that you think looks totally fine on other ppl, but on yourself, you think it just looks silly.

I agree with you. But this is my problem. I guess I will just have to designate gold days and white gold days. eeeeeek. Its a very expensive ring, not exactly the same as the picture I posted. I don't want to waste it.

I think peridots are very pretty stones. I've seen them set in white gold and yellow gold, and both bring out different sides of the stone's look. The stone looks a little warmer in yellow gold, and there is a little more of a contrast with the white gold. Both are pretty!

yes, ysalice - that's it exactly. also, the exact shade of the particular stone sometimes makes a difference as to which metal looks better.

in case it helps you visualize things, here is my sillimanite ring set in white gold -- not quite the color of peridot and a really bad photo, but close enough for jazz in this case!

^^^^ dq, what a gorgeous ring!

I've seen cartier tank rings with peridot stones set in both metals, and i think both are gorgeous in different ways.
as to mixing metals, i think it's a personal choice. it's something i don't really do, but if it's your thing, go for it.

Thanks again ladies. The diamonds on the side on mine isn't quite the same as in the picture that I posted, and my band is very cool looking. It is a thick gold band, but it comes up on the sides.. almost reminds me of a tulip.. can't explain it. It is a high setting also where you can see the point of the diamond from the side. I really love it the more I think of it. I agree also I do like it best set in yellow gold. I will post pictures when I finally get it.. my birthday is the end of August, so I have to wait awhile.

I may be mixing the two colored metals though, I still love me some white gold, but I love this ring.. what a delemia.

i have white gold (or silver, or platinum) days, and i have yellow gold days. it may be easier to mix because of the diamonds.
congrats on your ring!

Thats what I was thinking.. the diamonds on the sides are I think (from memory) set in white gold. The picture I posted is not the ring I got, but similar. I can't wait to get it already. So I may be able to get away with using both golds.
