I use cash or my Nordstrom or Neiman Marcus charge. If I use a store card, I only charge part. 1/2 cash - 1/2 charge. Then pay off balance as quickly as I can.
I do the same thing. Usually pay cash, but sometimes pay half in cash and put the other half on a card.

Back when I used to have a credit card I charged my purchases. Now I only use cash, so either my bf will charge it on his cc and I will pay him back before the statement comes in...or he lets it slide as a gift.

Good for you, Amanda! I figure as long as you can manage a debt and it will get paid off eventually without really heavy penalities (like 26% interest or something!), it's not a big deal.

I'm waiting for a new AmEx card in the mail with 0% APR for a year to buy a pair of Chanel glasses just because I'd prefer to split the $400 into two months payment rather than take a chunk out of one month's budget. And at any rate, with 0 interest, it doesn't make a difference.

i think that the fact that we're both pretty young might have something to do with the fact that this doesn't really make us uncomfortable. my mom's credit cards scare the crap out of her, she loves buying things in cash and gets mad at me when i buy something that's less than like $50 on my CC. she'd hate to see me charge a diet coke at work every night...

on the other hand, carrying and paying with cash scares me, which is why i hardly every have any on me. what if someone swipes my bag? or what if a store sells me a defective item and refuses to give me a refund? if i carry cash or pay in cash or check, that's money gone forever. i love my CCs! my rate is fairly low (at least on my amex) and my cashflow is consistent, so if i have a balance, then hey, i have a balance. my mom, on the other hand, would crap herself if she carried a balance.

and when i got my AmEx i told them i was a student so i only got 6 months of 0%, those bastards. i knew i should have left that part out, lol, because my credit is spotless otherwise.

I use my credit card because it's more convenient and I get airline miles. But I pay the whole bill at the end of the month. With some things where I can get a better rate paying in cash, I pay with cash.

I don't like to have debt. I always make sure that when I buy something, I always have the money in the bank so when the bill arrives, no problem!

I love using my cc for everything just for the cash back I accumulate. But mind you, I pay it off every single month, never late. And I obsessively check my balance at least once or twice a month online so there's no surprises when the bill comes in. I find that this is a very good way to keep track of my spendings too. But I will never purchase things when I know I can't pay for it at the end of the month, so no interest for me :)

I usually buy things either with my credit card or debit card. I do pay it in full at the end of the month for my credit cards and I rarely have cash on me unless I go out to eat with friends. It makes splitting the bill easier

My parents are like this, too!

My dad's very proud that he's never had to take out a car loan. His first car was $500 and he drove it 8 years (yes, I have to hear about this all the time lol) and ever since he's always saved up for his cars.

He has started collecting frequent flier miles, though, so he uses a card. Otherwise, he'd pay for everything in crumpled dollar bills if he could!

We're lucky, though, to have good examples from our parents. I'm sure in like forty years we'll be lecturing our daughters for charging a Diet Coke, too!

lol i know i will be some day, i just hate carrying cash! and i don't have a debit card because my mom forbade Bank of America from sending them to anyone in my family, so it's the CC for me. recently, though, what i do is just buy a gift card with my CC for like $30 and then i just use the gift card to buy my nightly diet coke - i just keep it in my work pants. if i have cash i blow it a lot easier than i would if i used my credit card, even though i know it's the opposite for most people. i just hate looking at my balance if it's high, so i'm more careful. if i use cash, it's gone immediately and i don't have to look at what i spent for the rest of the month like i do with my online banking, lol.

I use my debit card since my bank offers some protection. I just got a Saks card, but I am developing a strict one bag at a time policy so I don't get into trouble.
If I buy something off Ebay I use Paypal, otherwise it is really risky.
Carrying large amounts of cash makes me nervous, so I don't usually do that at all.

Exactly what I do. I loveee that buyer protection plan. Also, if there is something wrong with the bag and the store wont help, the cc company will. The bill is paid off at the end of each month so to me its pretty much the same as cash, plus I get rewards on my cc :D

same here, that's what I do.
