I was not even told about waitlist but more of plainly impossible to land it as a new customer with no purchase history of other PP watches

The AD who was very frank with me still allowed me to try both of their exhibition pieces in RG and SS, whilst the other AD never wanted to show at all.

I guess i was too late into the watch game when i was ready financially and could afford their watches. If only i was able to start much much earlier when they were all readily available at these ADs.

Agree with this. To be frank, when DH and I met with the PP specialist, we were told in no uncertain terms that to be eligible for any nautilus or aquanaut, you had to be a client of record who has purchased x (hard) and/or y(soft) PP models first. (Hard/soft were terms of art used by the specialist) Both x and y were significant numbers, and the specialist had examples of both categories on her iPad.

So, it is not simply a matter of waitlisting for what you love. Frankly, I currently prefer wearing jewelry on both wrists, and DH prefers Alange & Soehne to PP, so the PP requirements are a non issue. But, they are in place to discourage reseller. And clearly PP (and the other top companies) award client boutique loyalty. Alange & Soehne also will not wait list a prospective client for certain models unless that client is already in good standing, but IMO only, PP preaching exclusivity with an annual production of 70K watches (all models) per year is a bit much.

I do very much admire the nautilus design, but one has to be offered one first. And prespend for one of these makes Hermes prespend seem very minimal.
At my AD I was “allowed” to try on but that’s it 😂. This stainless steel reference has a 10 year waiting list. Perhaps easier to obtain PM model with diamonds in North American market, as @ehy210 ’s experience suggests. As to its function as an everyday watch, perhaps @chiaoapple will comment.

Wow thank you for all the photos. They are all stunning. I knew they were in low production but I had no idea it was so difficult to get these watches. I am on the “waitlist” on a few ADs. They all told me there was a long waitlist but were not upfront about it being close to impossible 🤣 Well, I guess I will try to play my luck and see where it takes me.

I'm shocked to read how difficult buying a Nautilus is. Mine was a last minute Christmas gift from my husband in the late 80s. We were in Dallas for a Christmas party and went out shopping the day before. He deserted me for a bit while I was looking at clothes. It was a lovely surprise on Christmas Eve.

I am shocked too! So strange how things change…

This is the cutest thing. Out of curiosity - do you remember what he paid for it back then?

I guess that’s the current stage of acquiring in-demand luxury watches while they were readily available 7-8 years prior. Nobody (unlikely there’s any) could walk-in and asked for S/S Rolex Daytona or PP Nautilus/Aquanaut or AP Royal Oak off the shelves. I would’ve initially thought that ladies model with diamonds should be easier but apparently it wasn’t and still needed purchase history…. All are playing the same playbook as Hermes but in a whole different level…

I adore this style of watch, especially with diamonds. Similar to others here I've been told that they are nearly impossible to get from an AD without significant "pre-spend" on other PP watches. Therefore, I will continue to admire from afar.

GL with your decision. From trying it on I find it extremely comfortable and really like how the band drapes over the wrist.
