sorry to hijack your thread galex, but I have a similar question.
I'm going to London --> Paris, and departing EU from Paris. Judging from the exchange rates now, it might be cheaper for me to purchase from London.
Does anyone know how the VAT refund wld work then? Do i get about 12% off if I buy from London, and claim the VAT from Paris' CDG airport when I depart?
Thanks so much!
Thanks for starting this thread!
here's my travel plans.
4 Hour layover at Madrid airport for a flight to Barcelona. travel all over Europe. Last stop is Paris and will fly out of EU from there. assuming i bought something at madrid airport where should i get my detaxe? in Paris? or should i have to have it stamped at Barcelona cruise port?
if i see something at H will probably grab it so i don't have to go to FSH paris and lug the stuff to the hotel via subway. plus i hear that if you see something specific, just grab it.
thanks! this whole tax thing is confusing for me!
You have to wait until your last stop in the EU to have your form stamped. Also, as others here have mentioned, the queue can be a nightmare at CDG. Once when I was there it was 90 minutes. But another time there was no one there. My point is just be aware that you may have to go to the airport MUCH earlier than you otherwise would. Once I had to skip the line because I didn't get to the airport early enough. Btw, shipping from FSH is very reasonable and worry free. I hope you find something amazing.![]()
cinderbellas, this might sound rather absurd, but wld u know if FSH wld be willing to ship just the empty boxes? this wld save some headache when packing, assuming one does score at the store!
At FSH they give you the option of charging your cc via US D rather than euro - that way a conversion fee isn't applied by your cc company
