FYI, Here is an archive catalog of the Hermes vintage sale in June 2008 at artcurial. You can see where the sales prices ended up in comparison with the estimates....I believe this was the first of their Hermes sales to have also been up on ebay....but dont quote me on that.....

The prices include buyer's premium and taxes.

Here is June 2007 as well...

Thanks for the links!! For some reasons when I click on them, they say "no lots are found". So sorry to request this, but would you mind posting again?

TIA!!!

true, but i've found many houses simply say that lots "may" be subject to a reserve - and with the exception of lots that don't sell it's speculation as to whether and at what amount reserves were set for any given lot. even at cristie's there are no reserve lots - all lots with low estimates of 5k GBP and under were without reserve in the sep '07 auction with all the crocodile kellys - that included many of the hermes offerings.

a lot of houses indicate which lots have reserves with an asterick system. Last time I bought at auction (estate jewelry), there was asterisks to some lots.

I think Seton is correct in surmising there are reserves which have to be meet for Artcurial's auctions. A quick scan from their last auction results in June show some items which were unsold. And when you glance at the upcoming auction, I saw some of the same items. Namely Lot 263, the off white color (sorry, I don't know French) Constance.

There are a few interesting items but the buyers premium (22.5%!) + VAT + shipping costs = totally discouraging.... Having said that.... plenty of eye candy such as this:
390.0_mid.jpg
 but they don't show the inside.... and they give no infos on the year it was made. Plus since they have a lot of mistakes in the descriptions I wonder how do they authenticate all the items? Do you think they take them to FSH?
Do you think it would be possible to ask for closer up, details pictures or inside pictures?

I love this, but before spending at least 8/9000 euros on this gorgeous bag, plus 22% hammer price, plus shipping costs, plus custom taxes, I would like to know for instance if it comes with clochette, bandouliere etc. and to take a look at corners, inside etc..And do you think they have cita?

^ yes, i see that lula888 and i did more than a quick scan. many unsold items. i'll say that what stood out to me from looking at those sold prices though: kelly and birkin bags for the most part sold above the estimate range and often out of range of what someone in the U.S. could find through resale or eBay. and that's even before the premium & tax(es) are calculated. In other words, I did not find many great deals, sad to say. HOWEVER, the Nov. 7 auction prices I believe may not look as bad as those in June due to the weaker economy and weaker euro now.
i might go back to the ones I'm "watching" and really think hard about which seem special enough... and then maybe register.

^^ sorry this posted after costa's posts. i meant it to be after lula888.

costa: you're in europe... get thee to paris and let us know! no but seriously, you would want to ask for pictures and details on condition before bidding.

Thank you, lula. I was feeling as if I was speaking a different language throughout the thread here.

Thanks guys! I managed to netvigator through the website... :sweatdrop: Shall we say technological chanlleged... :shame:

I saw a croc (or alligator, my eyes are untrained in exotics) for 6k! What a bargain... Then, of course, I didn't see the details...

Man I wish I could be there in person... You guys are right: Without further details it's really tough to make the right call...

Lilach, going thru their listings I noticed the figurine you use as an avatar.

Another question about their photos: I noticed that all Kellies they display have a stronger trapezoid shapes than I am used too. Is it an effect of an angle at which pictures are taken, or does it mean older bags were more trapezoidal than newer ones.
