Finally I have some time for a full post regarding the sale.
This is my first H sale. I went just because I thought it's a must-have experience for a scarf junkie like me. It was indeed a great time.
I went to the sale on three out of four days, mostly in the morning.
The first day was the most hectic day. I'm not a morning person, so I arrived the sale at 7:15 am and started at the 5th row inside the Palais des Congres even though the sale wouldn't start until 9am. It took 1.5 hrs for me to get to the Coat Check area, and then another 40 minutes in the line approaching the Sale room entrance. The reason was that in the morning they didn't have signage to point people to the product they needed to be in line for, so imagine a bottleneck combined of people who wanted to buy either 1) Carres, or 2) GM, or 3) All others (shoes, RTW, ties, gloves, hats, bath towels, etc.), all in a hallway that's about 4-5m wide! The crowd was consisted of about 50% French/European, and 50% Non-European/tourists, but the security guys spoke only in French to inform us which area was for which product, so imagine the confusion to a whole bunch of non-French speakers like me as to which line I should go...
I observed all kind of behaviors at the sale and made me wonder why they thought the sale was worth it? There's a guy escorted out by two security screaming, a pregnant lady being pushed left and right in front of the carre line (why she chose go to this chaotic place on the first day while being that pregnant was still beyond me...). There's an Asian lady who thought it's OK to point fingers at my friend's shawl and to touch her H silk shawl without asking!!! (My friend was so afraid of making a scene so she just smiled instead). Another shocker to me was one lady who dared to walk into this sale wearing a fake La Femme aux Semelles de Vent shawl
(about which I had to tell myself that perhaps she got it as a gift and didn't know...)
There are many instances where people who broke the line were mostly local, some came very late and joined the first row with the friends without lining up, the security guy kicked some out for that but not all. The crowd was very civilized otherwise.
The lines on the second and the last day was not bad. I went straight to the second row in the waiting area on the 2nd day at early afternoon, and straight to the coat check area on the last day.
It was a pleasure seeing many people wearing H at the sale: A pink Coaching CS GM, a pink red Sur Un Tapis Volant CS PM, a Concours d'Etriers CS GM, blue Guepards carre, pink Promenade de Platons, black and Rouge Vif B and Toolbox (sp?) bag, etc. Also, many security guys are young and pretty good-looking, so it was fun as well
