**Paris January 2011 SALEEE!**

Perigord, I just read your ordeal. Gosh, I cannot imagine how crazy it must have been when people were coming up the escalator and crushing those in front who have no way of escaping! That sounds like a horror movie right there! Glad to hear that you are okay.

Regarding the SLG counter, it sounds like the same scenario I experienced at last sale! I have been told that the staff are almost always the same from year to year, which makes me wonder why they do NOT improve the whole system.

I was skeptical about the sale (and the upcoming one in June) as there is a drought in supply of items from silks, leather goods to SLG at all Hermes store that I am not sure what is left to go on sale!

I am happy that some of our fellow tpfers found some good bargains and hope that Hermes/Palais de Congress will make changes to the sale system to address these safety issues.

Hanyeu: I am not at all taking it personally and if there is any reselleres here I am not at all going to apologize. I am sorry but as I can't know who is a good/bad reseller or who goes to the sale to act insane, I am just going to boycott all of them. In that way I don't give them fuil for their actions if they are resellers pushing people or running. It is my personal opinion and my choice. :smile1:

Perigod: It's addictive, huh? :p Especially Paris during the winter.

I am happy that you are home and safe and hopefully the next sale will be better and far more organized. And I hope you will have fun with your new items. Sweet dreams.

OMG. That sale sounds absolutely horrific!!! Some people are just horrible, awful, rude people by just shoving everyone out of their way to get ahead of the queue - it really is disgusting behaviour :nono: I'm so sorry that it was so awful for all of you who attended.

I will never attend a H sale anyway after reading this - it's just not worth it.

Dear Perigord and bienchen (and anyone else may have been trampled in the stampede) - I am SO SORRY to hear this. That is just beyond horrible. There is no reason for behavior like that, and no reason that the authorities should allow it to occur. This is not the escape from Saigon nor food riots in war-torn countries.

That you could have been "killed for a keychain" may sound like an amusing turn of phrase, but in reality it is no less tragic than being killed for your wallet by being mugged on the street.

There is nothing that I love or need from Hermes that would cause me to enter into that kind of situation, so even if given an opportunity I will never attend an H sale. I am glad you are both home safe and sound, and I hope there were no injuries (thinking of that poor woman who thought she might have a broken wrist!)

Hermes as a corporate entity should be well and truly ashamed of this.

My thoughts exactly! As much as I love Hermes and hope to score a bargain; I love my life more! I would feel quite humiliated being shove around and having to dash for the escalator/door/slg/silk. I can't imagine what my DH will write on my tombstone if I were to die in H sale stampede!!!

Perigord: Welcome home :yahoo:! OMG, I'm glad you're ok and I hope you feel better now from your jet lag.
Thank you so much for your report. I felt bad that I couldn't go to the sale this time but if I read the reports here, I'm glad I didn't go this time.
It sounds like this battlefield was worse than last year in summer .
I hope you found some lovely souvenirs though, you deserve it after a battlefield like that.
If I decide to go in summer, I better be prepared and go like this :p

I meant my comments for everyone. From my viewpoint, unless we know who these resellers are, it is difficult to boycott them (and I agree with you that the behaviors of some people, resellers or not, are simply unacceptable!) I experienced these obnoxious resellers as well in my previous H sale (i think we were at same sale together :smile1:), as well as other buyers who acted just as rude and obnoxious ( i remembered people were pushing so hard that the SLG counter almost toppled over). It was literally SCARY.

To be honest, I am not sure exactly whom to boycott but from my personal experience, I cannot attribute rude behavior only to resellers, but also to other buyers as well. Just my 2 cents. Hope no one takes it personally.

Don't worry, I'm not taking it personally at all :hugs:.
Oh yes, I still remember that sale. And I can still see a vision of that screaming woman in her wheelchair. That's something I will not forget soon anymore.

I agree with you that this rude behavior is not only coming from some resellers. I saw it myself last time. There was a buyer that really tried to push me away from the jewelry counter last time and I don't think she was a reseller.
I wish H. could do something about it, they might could organize things better to minimize the crazy behavior. Also, I think they should remove the people who can't behave from the sale. Maybe they should hire more security people to take care of that?
I was really shocked to read that Perigord had to call security for help and that some woman thought she had broken her fist. My goodness.....
Maybe we should bring our own security if we go to Paris sale next time :p.

Perigord, I am so happy to hear that you are ok, given that you were at the front of the queue! :hugs:

I wonder how Annie02 has been getting on, last I heard she was going early on the first day.

I agree, the terrible behaviour was certainly not displayed by all resellers and some private buyers were behaving just as ghastly.

I can also totally understand that some people get a bit carried away with buying, maybe waiting for so long to finally enter makes you want to maximise your shopping and only afterwards you discover a colour does not suit you; maybe your friend who wanted in item does not like it after all. So scarves will pop up on *bay. But it does annoy me when the same design and c/w scarf is being sold by the same seller, again and again. happened with Ex Libris, TB, etc

I've never been to the H sales on the first day, I've always hear it's pure madness...and from I read here, it seems it's not a legend:wtf: .
As I did last summer, I went on saturday (very quiet) : the scarves selection was indeed very poor (but found my HG : Pierre Loti in black),
and also 2 very nice pairs of shoes  !

i will do a reveal soon but maybe after the chinese new year because i am so bussy now =) thx u so much ladies for your kind supports *hugs*

So sorry to hear such news about the sales in Paris, it just proves to me to never go on the first day...such disrespect and "cruelty" from people that are meant to be civilized...It doesn't only go for the Hermès sale but in Paris, the first day of sale is extremely dangerous:bagslap:
Hope you did find some goodies dear tpfers. Last year, I went on the second day and I found a losange, a key charm and a card holder...I wasn't looking for anything in particular and wasn't into scarves yet though there was quite a collection...

has anyone gotten their VAT refund from this sale?

my friend may a purchase at the sale while i made a purchase at the boutique and neither of us have gotten a refund yet...just wondering if they're backed up? or what the normal refund return time is?
