I couldn’t help myself...I live near an outlet store and popped by and bought this gorgeous bucket bag. With 20% off it was $150 AUS and the quality is great.View attachment 4769609

Your bag is beautiful. Have you seen the 2021 collection? I love Oroton's smooth leather and their cluthes and gas with gold hardware. I should probably post some of them here. I still like some of their old style, although I am not old, but I like their new aesthetics :)

I hope you have enjoyed your bag :)

What does everyone think of the Oroton Odette Mini?

It's 50% off and I'm tempted.

Did you buy it? It is cute, but the previous design was nicer, I have it but you cannot find it now. The new bucket bags look great, although not mini. Have you checked Oroton's new collection? I think I am going to order this new bucket bag, the Cole.

I should have already bought it earlier when I bought a black Heath, which is not a bucket but the leather is so smooth and I love the gold hardware :)

Thanks. It is such an easy grab and go kind of bag. Oroton have really kept up with the market and are making some really gorgeous bags. Its such an underrated brand.

Have seen a leather key case(definitely genuine, lovely leather), for £1.50 in black in local Oxfam

Yes to add to SLG?

Cheaper than the Gucci purse I’m also contemplating …

I think the issue is that since here in Australia we are isolated from most part of the World, fewer people know about our iconic Brands, this even happens in Fashion (fortunately, brands like Zimmermann and Romance Was Born are now also very popular overseas). I believe that Oroton is big in some Asian countries, in which some women prefer logos not to be too visible but still want high quality. As you, I do believe Oroton is underrated and that some people negative experiences may prevent some others from buying the brand, but all brands, even the best, will have some negative reviews at some stage for nothing is perfect.

One of the things that I will never understand is why some people in Australia prefer Mimco over Oroton when there is no even competition between them, Oroton is so much bette! Mimco may not be perceived as cheap but many of the items are still affordable for the average Australian and it is a bag that is worn by teenagers and also people over 40 and I am fine with that, but Mimco does not portray luxury. I guess it is because Mimco was originally designed for younger people, but the quality was never fully there to me. Personally, I don't like the MIMCO logo; well, I don't like logos in general that is why I would never wear a canvas bag (although I can appreciate them in some people).

A brand that is not Australian but is now at a similar price range than Oroton is Furla, and frankly, I prefer Oroton's designs. The same happens with MK and Marc by Marc Jacobs, Tory Burch, etc, Oroton is better than those brands! Now, I am exploring independent brands. I have UK's Danse Lente, I bought their Johny via Moda Operandi, and I like the design, but when arrived I realised that the leather is not Oroton quality. Oroton's leather is better and so is the attention to detail. The same happens with other new brands. I love Mansur Gavriel, which I believe is a brand comparable to Oroton. I am now considering buying a Yusefi bag and I have my eye on a Ferragamo too! A very colourful one :) Having said that, I cannot wait for my new Oroton, it should be arriving in the next couple of days :)

I am going on a rant here.... I like the fact that Oroton is classic, not loud, but it is not boring anymore, the designs are versatile. I believe the market will expand with them being on Net-A-Porter, but some designs are sold out soon, so if people really love something they see at Oroton, it is better if they don't wait for it to be on Sale or at the Outlet, the last two years Oroton's sales have changed and some designs will never have discount prices or will do only if there are very few items left.

An Oroton small good at 1.50 pounds? cheaper than a cappuccino! If it comes in a box and has all the labels and details. You will never ever find that price in Australia, not an Oroton, not even is a charity store (i.e. Salvos, Red Cross, Lifeline, St Vincent de Paul). That is ridiculously cheap! Why would anyone sell it that low instead of donating it to charity so it can be sold for at least 10 times that price if it is new and has the box.

Believe it or not, people do make counterfeit Oroton because the brand is popular in Asia. There have been even scam websites with basically the same name as Oroton but adding 'outlet', all over Facebook. Many people are buying Oroton from what they believe it is their 'oficial' site when it is not, and even on Facebook there are Oroton's fake 'official' accounts. This is Oroton's official website, and there you can access both the sale and the outlet. https://oroton.com/

Over the years Oroton has had lovely SLG designs but many are not been manufactured anymore. I love the orange saffiano leather collection they had about 3 years ago. If you really love that SLG and think that the quality of the leather is good then buy it! In the end you are the one who will be carrying it, and even if it is not Oroton but it is beautiful, then enjoy it :) I mean, 1.50 pounds? You cannot even buy a latte with 1.50 pounds here in Australia. Go ahead and post it here later :)

Well I’ll Definitely take that as a yes, and logo is so subtle nobody else would grab it

Funny that they sell Radley behind glass!xxx

Yay how fun this thread has popped up.
Oroton has beautiful things. My grandma had an Oroton glomesh evening purse which I inherited and still have.
I really love shopping at Oroton for SLG as well. I have bought some of their clothing items as well recently - I appreciate the history and the quality!

Oroton has really turned itself around.
The designs are so much more modern that before - they used to be so daggy. They still do make some horrors of yesteryear to fill the shelves but their headliners are really good now.

Does anyone remember their bestseller in their daggy past? It looked like every third woman had it!
The Jackie bag. It always looked like a pair of saggy boobs to me.

It is lovely  I have a few credit card zip pouches, but I love the style of the card holder whose photo I am posting below; it is one of the designs that I bought about three years ago and is not back yet- if they ever bring it back. I love the colour and the saffiano leather is of great quality. It looks even better in person!Oroton opened orange saffiano.jpgOroton folded orange card holde -saffiano.jpg

I never had the Jackie. I just took a quick look and wow, that is an old design but seems fun.

Currently I am waiting for this bag to arrive. I ordered during the weekend and I don't know why for some reason I thought it would arrive on Tuesday, I miscalculated since I didn't pay for express, but apparently I will have it tomorrow :) I was so lucky to see the black one on sale, yet on Net A Porter the price is 529. I would have paid the full price, but I was lucky. I will take photos of it when it arrives and post them here, in the meantime, this is it, the link from Oroton, tell me what you think, I have read reviews and apparently the bag is perfect and the leather is beautiful:

The Heath Day Bag:

Oh, I am considering ordering this crossbody bag, which is very different, casual and light, plus I need a white one:

This might not be the right thread to put this. I have been caught up in the bug of rehabbing Coach bags. However, after reading the following:

I came to Australia in 1987 to work for Oroton. (Graduate of Cordwainers Technical College , London, in leather manufacture and design 1985) But they eventually moved overseas. They had a modern factory in Dandenong, an outer suburb of Melbourne. They mainly made wallets and purses and the quality was very, very good. But now, 30 years on, and I worked for myself in various related professions until I retired, I see large Oroton bags everywhere, and as I do shows selling URAD (aka 'Leathermate') leather conditioner I get asked to take a look at this scratch or wear, and I have to say that the quality of the work is outstanding. The leather is best quality top grain, and aniline dyed. This means it is very restorable from scruff marks. I am seriously thinking of opening an Oroton bag spa. I live in Sydney.

As vintage Oroton appear to be made from the same leather and dye process as vintage Coach, I thought I would buy a cheap one and try the same washing process. The only issue appears to be that the bags have an additional fabric lining and are not raw cowhide.

I have washed the hobo bag (do not know the style) below and conditioned. The handle wear is bad, but has cleaned up okay. But perhaps, cream was a bit challenging to start with. Not 100% happy.

Anyway, I am working out if an old Kiera hobo (black) I purchased will hold up and will try this week.

Thanks for your post :) The hobo bag looks nice, on the side though, is that a stain or an effect of the light?. You are working with a difficult colour which is prone to stains and colour transfer. I can only judge the photo and the 'after' for I do not see the 'before' but it seems that the condition of the bag albeit not perfect is fine for daily usage. Did you apply any other products? I must be honest, I did clean an Italian handbag I have, a white one (not a luxury brand, but an independent brand), and I was jus relaxing so I decided to clean it at. I used some Vaseline and also a wax I had ... I also used some Lost In Amalfi by Glasshouse handwash and passed a white cloth and it now looks much nicer :)

Let us know how it goes :) It is a nice hobo :)
