Ordering a strap for a Kelly...is this normal?

I was told no problem because my store has a local craftsman....that said the order is not in yet so who knows! The SF store (not mine) said up to a year for straps and you van only order twice a year; my boutique said anytime

For longer or shorter strap, if they allow you to order, will they custom the length for you? I remembered reading someone's post here last year about ordering a strap for a Bolide I think and they measured her so the strap would be a right length. I'm thinking of getting a cross body length from my K. My SM is away this week so I have to wait until next week to ask.

It's custom made for you so I think you should be able to pick how long/short you want it (within reason). I just asked that it be like the Evelyne strap because that's a good cross body length for me.

I would like to bump this thread

My vintage rouge box kelly didn't come with a strap and I would like one made by hermes to match it.

The dilemma is that I do not have purchase history with any store. Do you think they will entertain me to have one made?

You have to go yo your H & ask... The bigger issue is because this is
a vintage rouge box the color will not match exactly but it will be as close
as it can possibly be.

Be prepared, you may have to leave the bag there for a period of time
for the whole process to be completed.

I remember several years ago, I was traveling with an exotic vintage kelly bag
& the handle fell off. When I returned home, I brought it to my H store, Claude
was most gracious ordered the skin & made a new handle for me which he also told
me is the most difficult part of the bag to make...

I've just ordered a custom strap from http://www.chapmanbags.com. They had a somewhat similar strap so I gave them my specifications and they are making one for my vintage BBK. The price is quite reasonable (under $100). I'll let you know when I receive the strap.
