The amount of money Oprah lost is nothing to her. If she would really demonstrate that she is living the program and losing weight, I think it would help the brand. She hasn't looked like she has lost anything to me.

She can invest her money wherever she wants but she shouldn't be a spokesperson for the brand if she isn't really following the program.

I have to say, Gail looks like she's on the program. I watch her for a little bit in the mornings & she looks like she is losing weight. I think she looks good. I can't remember if she ever announced she was on WW.

i don't get why people always say this just because someone has beaucoup money!! $42 million is a lot of money i don't care how much you still have after that and the way oprah watches her money and where it goes i bet she is not walking around saying "oh well. no problem" she may not be suicidal but i am sure it is of concern to her.

hard to say about Gail watching her in the AM. She's always behind a desk
I used to listen to her on XM radio and she talked about her weight a lot. She claimed to be around 160-170 lbs, which I found hard to believe considering she appears to be tall and is big girl. I think she battles her weight to an extent but not as much as her BFF.

She's still up from where she came in to WTW in October (trading at ~$6.80) to now (trading at ~$11)...so probably about $30M. We'll probably be seeing another commercial or interview soon telling us all about how she can eat bread and still lose weight.

I hope not, that has to be worse than the first commercial. They need to stop pandering to the same audience if they want to survive.

I am not a member of WW(get the mag for recipes)but my friend who is a lifelong member told me that bread was always allowed.
Like you said before they need to increase their internet presence, However the field is crowded and often free.

Gail has been very vocal about her association with WW to the chagrin of Charlie Rose who is still an elder newsman.
She charmed the heck of that old dude and outed a couple of non so flattering aspects of his personality.(he is cheap for example)
People are experiencing Oprah fatigue and she lost quite a bit of her credibility lately, IMO.

Oprah has billions of dollars, as in 1,000 million = 1 billion. She probably has thousands of investments that go up and down by large amounts every day as well. The percentage of her wealth that went down that day with this one investment is very small compared to her whole worth. She can well afford to lose her investment in Weight Watchers and it won't affect her at all.

That doesn't mean it's nothing to her or anyone else with that level of wealth. Especially given that they have large portfolios based on many investments...those hits add up and they absolutely do not see it as blasé.

exactly!!! oprah watches every.single.penny of her money and i don't care how many billions she has you don't get there by not caring about your money and where it is going! like you said - those hits add up and if you are not careful it could be worse. i don't think she is somewhere sitting in a corner crying about how the bills will be paid now but only a fool would not be concerned about that money. and she is no fool with her money.

Oprah is close to her checkbook...
In addition, this hurts her brand, imo.

It's her brand that's really hurting, not that she should care at this point in her life, but her ego might care.

Absolutely, she took it hard when her network was doing badly.
Some tv anchors were already commenting that she lost her" Oprah " touch...
Some with glee, I might add.

She had a good run. Also, it paid off, unlike most others. I think she should retire wih her money and mass respect and be happy.
