I know a lot of high end brands use it, Prada being the first and other designers following such as MK. However, I briefly felt an MK Saffiano Zip Top Tote in the store but at that time, did not know it was leather and actually immediately passed it up because I thought it felt cheap. I later found out it was leather and researched it a bit and am noticing a lot of MK and Prada customers enjoy the material. What are the opinions out there? Moreover, for those of you who own a bag in saffiano leather, does it still feel luxurious like the regular leather...what are the benefits of it other than maintaining structure? Interested to hear from everyone...thanks!

I have a Saffiano Jet Set Zip Tote. This is my first Saffiano bag as well. It was a bit more plasticky than I thought. I like that it is a sturdy leather that can be worn in all weather. I think that it is a pretty low maintenance leather. I do like it as it is different. I've only had mine for two weeks, so am not sure of the long term wear and tear but it should be ok.

I will update if anything changes.

I recently got my first saffiano leather bag - it's a hamilton. My initial impression of it was that it stood very well on it's own and had a very clean look to it; but I always thought saffiano leather had a nice sheen to it.

It's definitely not as soft to the touch as regular leather, but like kings_20 mentioned, it feels much more low maintenance as a thick, sturdy leather! Perhaps it just comes down to preference.

I have 2 saffiano bags(the N/S hamilton in purple and the medium hobo in orange) plus a few wallets. I agree with the previous posts, the leather doesn't feel like leather, it feels like plastic (but it doesn't have a cheap feeling IMO), but that doesn't bother me. I like to have some bags in this kind of leather since they are easy to care for and as you mentioned, because the bags mantain their structure. I carried my orange hobo in the summer and when I put it back to store it, it still looked brand new. I was just carrying my purple hamilton last week since we were having nasty weather and it was perfect.

I have a saffiano Hamilton that I've had for a few months now. I like this type of leather in the N/S Hamilton because I think that bag looks better with structure. The leather is pretty stiff, plasticky like others have stated, but it doesn't feel cheap. I like how sturdy and low maintenance it is. Only time will tell how it holds up!

My Jet Set Tote is the pearl gray - which is a light cool gray and I haven't had any problems with colour transfer. I also haven't sprayed it with anything either. The leather is treated and has a coating on it, I think that it should be able to withstand colour transfer.

I have seen a few with some creases in them that don't seem to come out. I had one that had a crease right in front that even after stuffing it with more tissue would not come out ,so I returned it. I love the way they look though. I had the zip top one. I still wonder if I had actually used it if the weight of the stuff would have pulled the crease out.

Please keep us posted. I am considering exchanging my vanilla logo e/w tote for a vanilla top zip tote...I would be interested to see how it holds up.

I was just looking at this bag. I'm considering exchanging a bag for it as mentioned above. Was your bag creased when you bought it?

I have the purple saffiano top zip tote and i love it. I saw it and immediately loved the color and also that it holds its shape. It does not feel cheap to me, but it also isn't really 'luxurious'. I think its just very practical, and that is one of main reasons i got it.

Thanks to everyone for your feedback! You convinced me. I just exchanged my e/w jet set logo tote in vanilla for the vanilla saffiano leather top zip tote...yay! So excited to get it. I love the look and that the saffiano wipes clean easier than other leathers.
