Opinions about jewellery in the workplace?

I’d keep it very simple at first, especially in the finance field, and as a newbie in your workplace: no more than 3 pieces - a wedding set, or just a band if your engagement ring is large, a wristwatch, and stud earrings. If you want to wear a bracelet (unbranded) or necklace, then eliminate the earrings or wristwatch, but never more than 3 items. This will make you look classy and credible.
Wishing you success in your new job!

Thank you for your good wishes! It is nerve racking returning after such a long break but I’m really excited and it will be nice to feel like ‘me’ again.

I like the idea of three pieces, do you think a fourth in the form of a simple right hand ring (nothing too flashy) would be too much? I think I might feel naked without anything on my right hand or wrist! (as both wedding set and watch are on my left and I always wear earrings).

I’ll be working in insurance so similar environment to you. I bet you have some wonderful pieces, given your past working background! I like the idea of a statement piece and then balancing one or two other simpler pieces around it. Unfortunately I’m thinking my Cartier Love might need to stay at home though, which I’m so sad about as I really adore it.

What do you think about wearing a tennis bracelet at work? Mine is ‘only’ 3.30 carat, so not a massive dazzler, but it is very sparkly.
I wear my skinny dia bracelet but when I do it I just wear a simple dia band. I am in a similar dilemma since I just got a love cuff but when I take the step of faith to wear it they might think it is fake ha ha ha ha. I will be ok with that. When I decide to wear my cuff I will stay away from any other jewelry. Although a lot of ppl on my floor know that I come from Jewelry background. Also, I am in south Orange County so we can get away with some that stuff. I see a lot of women with Chanel and such

I do agree but still feel that I have to be conscious of what image I am projecting.
Absolutely. You want to be known as the competent new PA, not the woman covered in diamonds. Not all your peers might be as fortunate as you are in the jewellery department.
My advice is to go very slow before you bust out the bling, see what your colleagues and superiors wear, and establish your professional credibility as a priority. Once your professionalism is established, wear anything you’d like.
Good luck!

I wear this bracelet to work, but only once in a while as it might get dirty when shoveling papers all day.

Just to update as I started my new job this week - I noticed immediately that a colleague on my team was wearing a Tiffany platinum DBTY necklace with matching bracelet and had a beautiful LV handbag in monogram canvas, so that made me feel a bit more confident about wearing some of my nicer stuff. I’m going to stick to not more than 3-4 pieces maximum but considering wearing my Love tomorrow when I’m back in!

Good luck at the new job. The 3-4 pieces max guidance is perfect. A note on drop earrings which you may want to keep in mind if you’re going to spend much time on the phone. Even with a headset I find anything which dangles obnoxious while on call and there’s only so much of my day which can be spent on speakerphone.

I am just curious as to what others think about wearing fine jewellery pieces in the workplace (specifically a corporate environment), especially very obviously branded ones such Cartier Love etc.

I am going back to work next week for the first time in five years after having my daughter and will be working in a corporate environment as a senior level PA. I worked for the same type of company prior to my pregnancy, but it has been so long since I have been in that mindset that I feel a bit insecure/unsure about what would be appropriate to wear. I don’t want to stand out for the wrong reasons or alienate anyone. I am fairly sure that a lady I used to work with disliked me based on the fact that I wore some nice things. I also like a nice handbag so don’t want to look snobby or spoilt. Hoping you lovely jewellery ladies will be able to advise!

For background, I am in my late 30s (have been told I look late 20s/early 30s) and a classic dresser. My wardrobe for work will be mainly knee length dresses/pencil skirts with a cardigan and heels. My daily jewellery staples at home are my wedding rings, right hand ring (normally Cartier Trinity or a gemstone ring), earrings (normally drops) and Cartier Love cuff. Sometimes I add a necklace but wouldn’t wear everything at once - either earrings/necklace/rings or earrings/bracelet/rings.

What do people think about wearing brands like Cartier at work? What about drop earrings as opposed to studs? Any thoughts on how many pieces can be worn at once before it looks too OTT/inappropriate?

i am a nurse and it such that I cant use my nice bags. Who would like to put nursing stuff inside a designer bag right? Lol but I am happy being able to use a nice ring, rosary bracelet and a watch. i have a cartier trinity ring and love it. Its flat so theres no risk scratching my clients. You are lucky you are able to use jewelry in your workplace and you can wear lots. Me, even if ai am allowed jewelryit has to be minimal at least. People dont really pay attention tothe brand of your necklace. Its not like bags. I was using my trinity ring for years and no one even pays attention. Bu5 when I use a none branded one with stone people ask about it.

Does PA stand for physician assistant or personal assistant or something else all together?

Personal Assistant, although actually the job is more of an EA (Executive Assistant) role as it turns out, lots of project work. It is the type of environment where I am expected to be well presented and as such can get away with a few subtle pieces. I’m still being careful not to wear more than 3-4 in total though including my wedding ring.

Not sure where you work, but most people don’t know a Cartier Love on site. I have really nice antique pieces that work with my work clothing that I wear a lot and most tend to compliment my costume pieces more than my real stuff. I wouldn’t wear a diamond collar, but my diamond and platinum negligee necklace rarely gets noticed.
