I bought a Bedford satchel during the Christmas sale, and immediately had buyer's remorse. I called MK customer service not 10 minutes later to cancel and they said "no, the order is in process." Um, ok. No option to cancel...??? :confused1:

So I got the bag and it wasn't love. I repacked it, included a note that I had tried to cancel the order and used the prepaid return shipping label. Now I'm putzing around the MK website and see that SALE ITEMS ARE NOT RETURNABLE. :p Uh oh. I wonder what will happen when they get that box? Are they going to ship it back to me? Sheesh.

Has anyone else returned a non-returnable item and what did they do? I feel pretty dumb right now. :blushing: (But they SHOULD have allowed me to cancel the stupid order.) SIGH.

I bought a Fulton Satchel for a sale price of $156 and once I got it, I felt it was too heavy so I sent it back...honestly, I didn't even look to see if there were any limitations!!! I got an email about 2 weeks after sending it back that they credited my card. (This was right after Thanksgiving & I sent it back the 2nd week of December.) Wow... I hope you get your refund - I mean, what else can they do?!

Thanks! I hope they will just process the return, but I guess I'll find out in a week or so. I'm glad to know they processed your return on a sale item. They certainly do bury that tidbit of information deep down in their website so it's easy to miss!

To muddy the water, I had also ordered a pair of "Daisy" leather mocs but they were not on sale. I returned those, too...because they were the same color as the bag.

I guess I need to call them and do some whining.

They must take returns on sale items as handbags that are on sell disappear and reappear on a regular basis during sale events. I assume those changes are the result of returns.

I could be grossly misinterpreting this scenario tho!

I know their outlet stores will not give refunds; you can only exchange there. I just didn't pay attention to their website policy, which says this...

...
We do not accept returns or exchanges of items purchased on sale at any time. All swimwear, underwear, altered or custom-made merchandise and sale items are considered Final Sale.

I have no idea why items would reappear on sale events since they didn't allow me to CANCEL my order, either. :D I have ordered many times from their website but this is my first return. I guess I'll just wait and see what happens.

This is so dumb! So what if you receive a sale item and it's damaged when you get it? You're supposed to just keep it? If they don't want to accept returns on sales, they should at least give you a window for cancelling an order!

Yep, no returns on sale items. They will tell you that in store too. Um, that said i think it's dumb they wouldn't allow a cancellation within 10mins i mean C'mon? that is a bit of a short timeframe.

Good luck, do update.. love to know what they will do since you returned it already lol.

I agree; they should make that policy obvious. On Kate Spade's website, any bag that is 50% off or more PLAINLY STATES that it is final sale...no returns. MK's website should follow suit, and they should also allow a time window for cancelling. Most department stores will allow a cancellation within an hour of submitting.

Oh well. This is my own fault for not paying attention, so I will know better next time. Maybe they will take pity on my dumb self and just process the return.

I have never had to return anything I ordered from their website, so I don't have any direct experience with this, but I agree with MDT. What if the item you receive is damaged? I would think they would process your return especially with items going out of stock & then in stock again. It doesn't make sense for them not to take a return; it will probably end up at the outlets in the end. Surely, they will accept it, if not , call & complain up a storm!!

 I'm curious about what will happen. They paid express shipping to get it to me before Christmas, now a pre-paid return label. If they resend to me they will have paid a bunch of shipping on that purse!!

I will update when this is resolved. Thanks to all for responding, and for not calling me a goober. :lawl::wacko:

I would imagine they will allow returns of damaged items with no problem, but who knows? I will call them to discuss, but it's really my own fault. I order so much online that I "assume" that all merchants have similar return policies...which is not the case! :D

An hour seems reasonable.. 10mins seems ridiculous.. heck my pages can take longer than that to load some days. lol.

I suppose that is my biggest complaint. I literally called minutes after placing that order, and the CS guy told me it was "in process," which I knew was total BS but what could I do. I asked if I could just return the order and he said YES...but there was no discussion about the return policy or the fact that the bag was on sale. I should have just REFUSED the delivery. :graucho: (But of course I was too curious to do that, lol.)

No, not at all. It has been spoken about on the forum but is not in bold letters anywhere(here or on the MK site)

I'll def be curious to see what happens! well traveled bag, that's for sure.

As do I. 10mins no darn way. They just latch on i guess...

They will refund, and promptly. I have had many lately that I have ordered (all on sale) and some I ended up returning. They are the best I have had service wise, the very day they receive the package they refund!
