I know it’s a huge stretch, which I’m totally not expecting to come through. I just didn’t want to even ask if it was insanely expensive where I wouldn’t buy it if she even said yes. I actually have an SA I met in Toronto last month where we totally hit it off and he told me he’d get me whatever I want but I would much rather not be transporting bags over the border, and I’d like to have a more local SA. Plus my Canadian spend profile isn’t as high as my US. This local SA is actually my best friends SA and she’s gotten a lot from her and she’s offered her some good stuff, so I’m riding on her coat tails with this one. Also the Geneva SA told me to come back after summer and she’d get me something. Just no plans to go back to Switzerland yet, and again with the claiming the bag and exotics with customs makes me nervous.

It'll probably be a bit over $50K retail.

Exotics are easier to obtain; I would just be straight up and say you have a birthday, your husband wants to get you a special bag, and this is your dream bag (assuming you ARE OK spending close to $60K with taxes). The illusion is "all Birkins and Kellys are impossible"; the truth is that there are still not that many people spending that kind of money on one bag (there have definitely been more in the pandemic rebound, and I suspect will be fewer as the markets keep getting darker).

Your spec is really specific and that makes it harder, of course. But nothing's impossible. As far as importing an exotic into the US, it's fine as long as you have the CITES and all your receipts (they will just be thrilled you are declaring); just understand what the duties will be upfront before you even try to buy.

Maybe I’m optimistic, but you very well could get such a bag in a relatively short delay with the right SA. Exotic bags resell for way under retail unless they are Himalayans, so I doubt any reseller is buying such bags. Then, because the demand for such bags is lower, most stores don’t get many. If you are able to, I would ask in multiple stores big and small especially since you don’t have one exclusive SA. Good luck on your search! Hope you will be able to find your dream bag in time for your birthday.

Can someone please tell me price point for a Kelly Pochette in ostrich.
I looked in the current price thread & I didn’t see KP ostrich on the list.

To be relevant to the thread, I’m just Curious as I’d love to do a SO in this combo at some point.

A decent rule of thumb for estimating is that Ostrich pieces are typically in the neighborhood of 2x the price of a base leather price per item. With swift currently at $6050, I’d guesstimate ostrich KP to be ~12,000 USD.
