Good luck to you, and I also think you can walk between FSH and George V, it will probably only take you 20 min. at a very brisk pace, though 
I have been offered Birkins at both FSH and GV, try both stores. I would skip Rue de Grenelle if I was only after the Birkin, the stock seems limited (when I was there). I would rather revisit the other stores.

I wouldn't recommend the metro at that time btw. It's going to be really crowded. Plus it has had a lot of snafus on the line that takes you to FSH (line 1) due to construction (they are trying to make it automated). It would take you the same amount of time to take a cab or bus. I like Les Cars Air France (google it). For 15 euros it takes you right to Porte Maillot where you can hit line 1 and go straight to FSH or GV!!!
Wishing you the best of luck on your one day in Paris. I too have walked from FSH to George V. I guess it depends on the weather and how fast you want to move! I hope you come home with your dream bag.

My dear, this was way before I discovered this darling forum and all the wealth of knowledge and expert advice available here. I bow down to all you superior tastemakers!:shame: Besides, I was probably intoxicated by all the fab leather scents at FSH and GV.
Im still undecided what to do in terms of taxi or metro. Im still panicking because i know when it comes to reaching the store at opening times, every minute counts!! I will have a look at Les Cars Air FRance. Thanks for your tips.

I think im going to take your advice and not visit Rue Grenelle. I am going to wear heels but take a pair of ballet flats for any mad dashes necessary! l
. Up to yesterday i was going alone but my mother chirped in last nigth and said she might join me in the day trip. Whilst im at FSH she could be at George V. I am after a black 30cm. In your opinion do you think they carry quite a lot of black bags at the boutiques as it must be quite a popular choice?
my flight arrived earlier 7am, I tok a cab, still take quite a while to reach the hotel, and I am staying pretty near FSH. Mine is Terminal 1
it is easy to take metro/trains in france. jst do a bit of homework, and it will be fine
