Indiaink--I am curious. What keeps you involved in TPF?...So what about TPF maintains your interest?

I didn't get involved in tPF because I was always hunting ... I got involved after I found the one bag (at the time) I was looking for and stayed* for the camaraderie and friendship. I have also made virtual friends with a couple of the designers and like to follow their work. tPF is the place to do that, for sure.

And to nip any virtual rumors in the bud (in my case): If my personality was mirrored by the designer of the bag I like, I would be so ... odd. And as far as being the cool person on the block because of what I buy, that would work if I wasn't a loner-tomboy and if anybody I knew knew what in the heck the brand was I carried. Under the radar, all the way. Could care less about status. Never did care about that sort of thing. And I'm sure that's SO unlike many here...

*I also am a crafty sort and I work with leather on a very very tiny scale, and it's so nice to 'talk' with people who know what they are talking about here - there are a number of leather ladies here who could (any may?) make a living with the advice they give out here, for free. I also put in my two cents' worth upon occasion.

Indiaink - if ever there was a person who was strong and totally themselves regardless of the bag carried it is you. In no way did I have any single person in mind when I wrote point 4. I can not imagine that you would ever buy any 'it' bag or fashionable brand for the sake of what others thought.

I am so glad you choose to give your time and expertise on tpf even though you are satisfied. :hugs:

Ah! Such a tease. You're killing me. If I had been involved in TPF longer, maybe I would know what your bag is. But I don't. So I am wondering, "what could be odd"? Does her bag have two heads? Hmm. What could be odd is beyond my imagination.

And this is one of the reasons I hang out here - people like you:smooch::flowers:

I didn't mean to kill you - my newly discovered bag is the Cervo Hobo (never did I think it would be) and the brand - Bottega Veneta. The man running the show is Tomas Maier, and he is the odd brilliant man behind it all, so if I was trying to bond with him I would seek treatment. TM is so classy cool I can't even grasp it. Although I have read he, too, is a loner and doesn't seek the limelight. :shrugs:

Thanks for bringing me back from the dead. :p BV is wonderful. I thought you were a BV fan and could not relate BV to odd. I didn't understand you meant the designer.

The first time I saw a BV was in Nordstrom's and I could not believe the softness of the leather. I described it as being so intimate as being like sex. This was back in the days I would not spend more than $100 for a bag. I got a vintage BV off ebay for $89 and it is wonderful. I loved it to death and I still got compliments on it. I just gave it a home spa treatment this weekend and was wondering why I am not carrying it now.

not one brand, but pretty close, i guess. i consider myself a 2-brand girl. LV and coach. LV, to satisfy my need for high-end luxury, but can only buy once in a blue moon. and coach, to satiate my need for new bags that won't break the bank. their leather is pretty nice and quite affordable, comparatively, so i can buy several at once and not feel *that bad* ;)

IndiaInk, as someone who is still hunting for that perfect bag, I find your comments so interesting! Has finding your bag translated into anything else in your life? What I mean to say is, has identifying that perfect bag helped you identify what works in clothing, style, or anything else?

No, not really. The only difference now is that I don't feel an overwhelming need to check stores out or go look at the handbag section every time I'm shopping. It's funny how much of a habit that had become!

For me, it's about a vibe and look and it just so happens that two designers fit that look and vibe for me--BV and YSL. But it's only the bags. I don't spend the same money on clothes that I do on bags.

I can't imagine that. To me, it would be like eating the same thing for dinner every night. Or wearing the same fragrance day after day. I've never understood that one either.
