So, I found this thread when I was searching for answers....I just purchased a Cartier LOVE, yellow gold. Within ONE HOUR of wearing it, my arm was itching like mad. No perfume, no soap build up, no wearing off of mysterious"coating". Brand new direct from the store. I returned it. They sent it back. I tried again, thinking, well, maybe it was just a fluke.
This is what happened within an hour:20190529_163328.jpg 20190529_163309.jpg

I'm getting tested at my Derm's. It may be their copper. I've never had a reaction to 18k gold before and wore their trinity rings for many years with no problem. This isn't just the sharp edges, it's something else...
Trust me, I let Cartier know.

I bought a rose gold from pandora that gave me a rash, I thought it was because it was cheap. My mother said I must be allergic to the copper alloys. I have no problem with platinum or gold.

I'm allergic to hold as well. I can get away with 14k now as an adult but as a child my ears would swell and I could never wear the 18 K gold Tiffany earrings I bought myself after passing the bar :( ended up selling them. Can a jeweler put a lower gold coating on the inside for you? I'm sorry this gapped to you :( I feel your pain

Found this thread because I was researching LOVE items giving people a rash. I purchased a YG LOVE ring about 2 months ago in Paris and wore it with my wedding band which is platinum. After a couple of days my finger started to itch like crazy and developed a rash so I put the ring on my right hand instead. Within a couple of hours the same itchiness returned and I had a full blown rash on my right ring finger. I am so sad that this is happening. Now I've resorted to wearing it only when I am going out and I know that I am coming back home within a couple of hours. :crybaby:

a few weeks ago, i started noticing a rash on the inside of my arm where my cartier rose gold love bracelet rubs against my arm. DH said that i must be allergic to the bracelet, and i just brushed off his comment. since i've been wearing it 24/7 for a year now, i couldn't imagine it would be the case.

i went to my dermatologist yesterday, and he confirmed that i'm allergic to an alloy in the bracelet, probably nickel and advised that i stop wearing it:crybaby:

i called my SA at cartier, and she said that cartier's rose gold is only composed of gold and copper. i searched some old threads and found that some people are allergic to copper. i asked her if cartier could plate the inside with rhodium or palladium to act as a barrier. she's doubtful cartier will do this since it's rose gold (not white gold) but she will check.

i'm so sad because i love this bracelet. i've searched the forum for suggestions like painting the inside with clear nail polish or lining it with a band aid.

does anyone have any other suggestions?

do you have the Rose gold, or the yellow? How long did it take to appear?

I couldn't wear the YG Love, but later found out it may have been the jeweler's rouge still on the bracelet ( it happened within a few hours/days of getting it)
Obviously, after a year it would not be that. I truly wonder about the alloys in the Yellow gold...they have to add something to make the bracelet strong...25% of some mysterious metal. Paladium? Nickel?

I am having some issues with my YG bracelets. Green/black marks being left on my arm, like a residue I could wipe off. I have heard it may be caused by our well water acidity but then started to break out where the nail head was rubbing. Almost like an eczema reaction. Anyone else experience a similar reaction?

Yes, me! I was also wearing my small juc with stones and the head of the bracelet towards my wrist and the rest of my jewelry above it were pushing it down, especially during my workout (Tracy Anderson). This happened on two different occasions and I have now decided I'm going to wear my bangles first then the juc last so that it is away from my wrist.
