I have to agree. Was hoping for more kisslocks but not the way they're done here. LOVED the Fall2017 doctor's bag kisslocks, but not these boxy ones with essentially non-functioning kisslock sides. Why oh why, Coach?!? Why couldn't you make some non-embellished doctor bags in leathers like the mailbox bags????? :confused1:

Oh, well, at least my wallet is safe.
Yes! That's exactly what I've said before too! Not everyone is a fan of bags with multi colors or multi designs on them.

So far THIS is my favorite mailbox bag. Sooo cute!

This was one of my favorites, too! It's girly without being juvenile, and the colors compliment each other so well (love the brown on the under-side of the handles). There was a Saddle Bag that came out in Spring 2016 that had a very similar floral print (blue flowers on black) except it was only released in haircalf. The leather definitely compliments the print more and gives it more dimension.

The double kisslock satchels are clearly an homage to Bonnie Cashin, the designer that founded Coach's women's collection. She did lots of kisslock bags, including bags with double kisslocks. Compare the Cashin bag below, with the original striped legacy lining, to the new spring bag.

Prior to this collection, I had only seen the Bonnie Cashin "Double Header" bags also. I did some research, and it appears that the Mailbox Bag is indeed a rare gem from the archives that was only available in the 60's and 70's. It hasn't been reissued since. I've put together some archive information below for those who are curious.

I don't quite understand the "Rural Free Delivery" joke in the original bag's name, but that what Bonnie called it haha.

I'm actually thinking that the kisslocks on the largest size (the one currently for sale) would fit an iPhone 7, and I think that's pretty convenient.

I hope they release an XXL Men's Duffle Mailbox version. I'd be all over that!

On second thought, after seeing those runway pics, I'm liking a fair few of these designs. That dark blue/purple one I need to see in better lighting and different angles. It *looks* gorgeous. As does the smaller, light blue mailbox bag. The ones up for pre-order right now are just *too* big--if I were to get one, it would be as an overnight/duffle kind of bag, not a "take this to work every day" bag.

Rural Free Delivery (RFD) is a service which began in the United States in the late 19th century, to deliver mail directly to rural farm families. Prior to RFD, individuals living in more remote homesteads had to pick up mail themselves at sometimes distant post offices or pay private carriers for delivery.

I can remember when I was a kid our address was RR6, that was it. Your name, RR6, city, state and zip. RR stood for Rural Route. I don't think our road even had a name, most around the area didn't....though I'm sure they do now because the area has built up quite a bit.

You're right, they started changing them because 911 calls weren't able to get to places fast enough with just a RR number, unless you had lived in that area all your life and knew everyone.

We had a similar system. No house number, just name, street, city, state. You could leave off zip code and it would still get to us. And our phone # was 202-KE7-1690 (all Washington DC in the 70's).

Yea! And when we dialed a local phone number we only had to use 5 numbers. The last number of the area code and the last 4 numbers.....like 6-6133. That was my fathers work number. When I was an older child we had to start dialing all 7 digits for some reason.

I just looked through the 48 pics of SS18 and the bags look like they have the most amazing leather, especially the men's! Did anyone else think that?

I agree -- i grabbed a few of the men's bag pics to post here for you. Maybe because there are more solids for the men's, it emphasizes the beautiful leather. The women's is nice too, but the men's looks richer or more luscious.

I'm kind of interested in the men's barrel/cylinder shape (carry--on or overnighter?) Black one with the Red KH print on it. (3rd pic from top). But overall, the leather is the nicest I've seen since I'm with Coach!

These caught my eye also. I especially like the burgundy (or oxblood?) one with the black straps.
