I thought it was said that the average sized woman is a size 12. At least, from most of what I have read. Here is just one example:

Today, the average American woman is 5’4″, has a waist size of 34-35 inches and weighs between 140-150 lbs, with a dress size of 12-14. (From http://blogs.webmd.com/pamela-peeke-md/2010/01/just-what-is-an-average-womans-size-anymore.html) I've also seen several other articles, saying average size is actually a 14.

So you ladies who don't think Christina is "average size"... what size do you think she is?

Because most of our population is clinically obese this may be "average", but average in reality should be a 6-8

She's a beautiful woman but someone should shoot her stylist if she even has one. I'm ok with her putting on some weight (it can happen after 30 and post baby, plus her divorce...) but she's gotta dress for her new shape or loose a little weight if she wants to squeeze herself into her old duds. And her hair and makeup...this poor girl is screaming for help. It hurts for me to look at her. The way she's dressing she just can't be happy. I'm so sad for her :(

This statement makes no sense - an average is the median of several figures. Reality is what is real - so if the average woman is a size 12, that's reality. How should the average in reality be a size 6/8? Maybe a size 6/8 is the IDEAL average, but the reality is, it's not.

I don't think Christina looks bad at all. I don't like that dress she wore and don't think it does anything for her, but you can see that she looks heavier in that first pic taken from the side when you compare it to her performance pic in a leotard. I happen to love seeing celebrities who are comfortable in their own skin and aren't afraid to flaunt their REAL bodies, especially when those bodies more closely resemble the bodies of the average American woman.

I gotta be honest, after reading comments all around tPF over the last week in regards to celebrity's weight "issues" it makes me never want to post a pic of myself again! I mean if people are calling Christina and other celebs fat or chunky or overweight, I shudder to think what people must think about the average women who share pics of themselves here on tPF.

She desperately needs someone to teach her about make up! Right now it looks like she learned how to use foundation by watching people spackle walls. She's very pretty but then ruins her looks with make up.

NOTICE: I said "reality SHOULD"
I'm perfectly aware of what an average is. I did pass grade school after all. If you reread your first paragraph you're just restating what I said. I said I was aware this is the average because most are clinically obese. I wasn't disagreeing with what the average was, but rather what the average SHOULD be. Please read carefully.

Also, notice I didn't say Christina looks bad rather I commented on people stating, "she's not big!" because she's "average." Though this may be the case, a 12 being the average female size is not "ideal" (as you put it) and not for looks, but rather for health. That was the reason for my statement. IMO, look whatever way you choose. It's your skin, so you have to live in it and own it. But, care about your health.

A side note: the sad truth about being a celebrity is you are more closely scrutinized by the public. Everyday women aren't judged nearly as harshly. It may not be right, but it is the way things are and probably will continue to be. Celebs are, unfortunately, put on a higher status/pedastal thus judged. (I know I personally do this because given the circumstances where I have unlimited access to money, I'd have a personal trainer, a chef, etc... and have a rockin' body) I'm sure if anyone saw your pic these thoughts wouldn't cross any of our minds :winkiss:
