everyone has different tastes. many people don't care for Kermit
Oliver at all and then he has rabid fans. Tohu Bohu is huge favorite of others. There are collectors of patterns in many color ways and then people who only want one. Some colors look great in a picture and then awful on me when I try it on.
Take your time and go through this thread and the others and ask lots of questions. You will soon get to see what appeals to your style and skin color. Enjoy the experience.
I am not sure what will be at the NY sale this year but there were some shawls last year but they go fast.

I wasn;t thinking of restricting myself to current designs as there are older ones available via ebay and other sources. . . I wonder also if this year there will be older designs in GM available at H sample sale. . . May I ask, did you just fall in love with detailed animal ones and then chose several colorways... were there any surprise color combinations that you didn;t think would work, but actually did work?

Apologies if this is more suited to PM. . .

Older designs turn up at the Paris sale- they never turn up at the BH sale (there is never any c/s- I found a few pieces 2 years ago- none since). I understand c/s also can be found at NYC but you have to watch for damage.

Yes, absolutely I fall in love with a design and then buy all of the cws that I find pleasing. As you may have gathered from reading posts here, grail designs in great cws fly out of the boutiques so you have to act when they are available or lose out. And yes, color combinations that did not sound appealing in the buy book subsequently turn out fabulous IRL. I wasn't sure about pink for Native American designs- it just did not sound right- but Danses and Pani are each gorgeous in the rose cw. Same with black- normally I buy the black cw of most new issues but sometimes it is too harsh so I pass. You never can tell until you actually see a design IRL and try it on. At least that has been my experience.

This is true- you should take your time and decide which designs "speak" to you and which cws look best on you- everyone is different. I am one of those card-carrying rabid KO devotees so I am biased toward ethnic designs. I am hoping that Hermes in their infinite wisdom will one day cast Mythologies des Hommes Rouges in c/s. As far as wildlife goes, I would :heart::heart: to see Rencontre Oceane in c/s.

thank you andee and toujours chic for taking the time to answer my very general query! Am going to "dive back" into the threads to research the GMs - to try to separate out those that I love as works of art vs those that I would wear over and over again. Unfortunately, I sometimes find that I realize something is in the latter group weeks or longer after it disappears from the shelves or ebay listings :) and every pic that is posted here that I love makes me kick myself if I have passed on it IRL. . .

I've deliberately not gone in past years to the H sample sale because I don't want to work myself up into a frenzy a buy scarves that are only "maybes" because they are on sale. . . so what you've both said really helps me out.

yup, it is easy to get caught up with impulse buying so I may go to a sale but haven't bought in a while plus, I HATE "s" stamps on my scarves although I do have a Madison Avenue finesse with the dreaded s

you'll note the last picture has the mascot of the lovely tPFer who sold it. i want to thank her for this!

It looks wonderful on you!!
Elegant as I knew it would be.
I think the colors are perfect for you~I know you agonized if they would work with your coloring and skintone but I think it is PERFECT!!
Just got back from a conference and logged on and saw this!
I am SMILING!!!
You made my evening!

Thank you, Luckymom, this is absolutely gorgeous - I assume it is yours?!? I love it...Thanks for posting the picture, I can never picture the scarves/shawls in my mind from just a description of the colors!

Here is a picture of my mousseline in the Rouge/Violine/Orange cw. This will give you an idea of what the color combo looks like. However, the colors are much more intense and vivid in cashmere.

Whoops, I guess the part where you said it is a picture of your mousseline GM would have been a hint to me that yes, it is actually yours! Sorry for the lame question - it is late and I am tired...too much work!! (And not enough H!)

LailaT, that is a beautiful shawl and the colors are absolutely perfect on you - excellent choice!!:okay:

WooHoo, Kallie Girl - I am so pleased that you got this one and I know you will post pictures - yippee! I think that I am getting a black one...my SA wasn't in today and so I won't truly believe it until I see it...I went for the black because, well, I always get wear black so it will go with a lot. I am so tempted and so thrilled that someone on this board even figured out this shawl existed!

Ohhh, it's beautiful!! I have that colorway coming in the cashmere GM. I sure hope it looks as good as your mousse. I bought it sight unseen ... not even a photo. May I ask, what the colors are besides the red, orange and purple? It looks like turquoise and yellow ? Many thanks!!

Oh wow, that is GORGEOUS...I love the violine color and the aqua is beautiful, too. They are wonderful on the red...OMG, I wonder if I should get this one as well as the black one?!? I can't for the life of me figure out why only Madison Ave. got these beauties!! :shrugs:

Here are a couple of close up pictures, so you can the colors more clearly. Hope this helps. The cashmere will be gorgeous! The colors are more saturated in cashmere and really pop.

LailaT - the Tigre looks great on you. Such soft colours!

Toujours*chic - "Reve d'Australie" is a favourite pattern of mine. Love the detail and the colours. (I'm still searching for a 90 cm silk!)

KAllieGirl - the new avatar with the yellow daffodils and the black Birkin is so pretty!

Luxury
- hope all is well with the dogs! My animals have chewed the speaker wires and the internet connection. I worry they will get a shock one day!
