Ode to the Evelyne

Hi everyone. Long time lurker, first time poster. I am new to Hermes. My first purchase was this year at my local consignment boutique just before the pandemic shut everything down. I'd come in to look at a Chanel shoulder bag but fell in love with a Bolide 31 that had just come in. Last week I went to my local H boutique to look at Double Sens and Garden Party and ended up picking up an Evelyne GM in bleu nuit instead. I am hoping for advice regarding an insert/organizer. Do you all recommend using one? If so, which one? Thanks in advance for any suggestions.
Congratulations rita2129!! I got my linen type insert/organizer from a vey nice Etsy seller who I will add a link to. I did a quick search so this is for the little tpm size Evelyne but she custom makes her inserts so you can request the size you want, pockets and a zipper if you would like more security for the bag. I like her organizer over others because it is very light and doesn't take up as much room as say, a felt organizer from Samorga. Enjoy your Evie!

Thank you very much for the info and link. I will check it out. I'm almost afraid to wear her without an insert. She's my first new H bag (I have a new to me Bolide 31).

Thank you! I'll be sure to be ready. But what about just buying them through one's SA? Would a store ever have a selection of colors to choose from, or are they rare to get through the stores?
I don't get to go to the boutique often because it's a 5 hr drive, but both times I've asked they had at least one color in stock, just not one I was looking for. Definitely worth asking, and if you have a couple colors in mind, your SA might be able to hold one for you!

It's a doozy. I've managed to buy one only by compulsively refreshing whenever I have a spare minute. They get added at random times throughout the day and sell out within minutes of being listed on the site; I'm sort of surprised your SA suggested to try there. Was this someone you've purchased from before? If not, it might be a canned line given to "cold callers" via the phone. I would have thought you'd actually have better luck with regular visits to an H boutique mentioning that you'd like a mini Evie to an SA you have a relationship with--my boutique is a 5 hour drive, so I don't get to visit often, but recently both times I visited I asked about mini Evies and they had them in stock, just not in the color I was looking for. Of course, that's in the US, so it's possible things are different.

One advantage you have is that (I think?) living in Europe you can purchase from any EU country's site and have it shipped to you, so it might be worth bookmarking a few pages and checking them on a regular rotation. Be logged into your account and have your card ready; I had a couple disappear because I wasn't quick enough checking out after adding to my cart.

Good luck! The mini really is perfect for bare necessities. Mine usually just a phone, keys, a calvi, sunglasses, and lipstick, and it works well.

Finally, after nearly a month of refreshing h.com multiple times a day (I estimate 50 times a day in average) and losing a couple because I was too slow to log in, I managed to snatch a TPM, in Anemone. It is the cutest bag I have ever seen. Smaller than I thought.

Wonder what I’ll do with all that spare time not refreshing h.com. But maybe I have become addicted, and just want more, in other colours.

Congrats on your hard work! You will love it. This morning I had my Bearn key holder, Calvi, my passport, a mask and my earbuds in my little TPM. My favorite bag to use when I don't need to take an umbrella or sunglasses out.

Thank you for the suggestion. I am definitely going with linen now. Other than huge price difference, do you

Thank you for the suggestion. I have decided that I like linen more than felt for the insert. And this one is a lot less expensive than Fourbi or Maitai.

You're welcome. I have a Maitai also and it's exquisitely made but I think it takes up too much room in the Evie. I think you'll be pleasantly surprised by the quality of Julia's (White Fox) insert. And I think you can choose 2 contrasting colors to make it even prettier.

I finally took the Evelyne out of the box today, ready to use her with what I thought was light load, but I had to put her back. Felt too heavy for my shoulder. And I didn't put anything more in her than I had in my Bolide (iPad, small zip wristlet, sealed baggie with mask and hand sanitizer, phone, keys and a couple of travel size lotions, etc). The Bolide never felt heavy carrying on my arm or with the shoulder strap. It's my first cross body, I've had mostly shoulder bags over the years. Do I just need to get used to it? Is there a way to distribute the weight better, so it doesn't feel like it's pulling my shoulder?

GM is a heavy bag. Since you just bought it, I would probably take it back and try to get the PM size. It is available often in bleu nuit in both ghw and phw. I love the look of GM but PM is my heaviness limit. I think the PM weighs 1 lb 11 oz. I saw GM listed as 2.86 lb. That is heavy :(

That's a big difference in weight for not much added room. I have an appointment on Saturday, which will be two weeks after purchase. I hope they'll exchange it for me, even if I have to wait a bit. In the meantime, there's a Double Sens 45 I'd been eyeing...
