Ode to the enamels

Hi all

I've spotted some H enamel bangles on eBay (waiting on a few more photos to try and authenticate them). The enamel looks to be in great condition but the silver edging is in rough shape, some of them it has even fallen off (< is this even possible?).

I'm pretty new to H bangles, all I know is that I like the colours and designs of these ones and the price is good. Plus I figure if I can get them fixed I might be able to sell my least favorite ones (though I probably won't).

Does H have a service to fix enamel bangles? And if so does anyone know the cost?

I can't speak for the ones with the metal falling off, but I have two H enamel bangles from around 2005 (I bought them from the boutique) that had terrible patina and nasty, moldy-looking staining on the palladium. When I asked my H salesperson last month if they could be fixed, she said "just go buy an good art eraser, and rub all the metal surfaces with it." Lo and behold, they're as good as new now. If it's only bad mottling and patina, it might be as easy as five minutes with a $2 art eraser.

This is valuable information for H enamel lovers, thanks BKKTina!

Thats a great tip thanks! Either way I'll go for them, I'm thinking if Hermes doesn't have a service then I'll try taking them to me jeweller and seeing what he can do.

Hi BKKTina - That was a useful tip. Could you please post "before and after" pics on your next attempt? :graucho::D Thanks loads!

Shoot! I should have thought of that. I probably would have if I'd expected it to work :D

I don't have any other enamels in the "before" condition now, but here's a shot of one of the "afters." Before, this piece was so bad I never wore it--really moldy looking, nasty patina.

Obviously, you can tell the eraser did nothing at all for the scratches on it (this was a well-loved piece of mine for many years), but I wouldn't exactly have expected it to!

I will say that there are still some small areas of imperfection and mottling in the worst areas, especially by the inside edges. I'm going to try the eraser on them again when we get home from Dub (and I'll see if pictures can capture any difference). But overall, I'm so pleased! :yahoo:

Hi ladies, I'm new to the forum and have a few questions on the enamels -

Do Hermes ever re-release patterns - e.g Capitales? Or is my only hope buying secondhand online??

My current collection consists of a wide black Clic and narrow Rose Dragee Clic. Wanting to add some caleche bracelets into the mix. Does anyone have a photo of their Clic with matching caleche?? Thinking about getting a narrow black caleche and narrow Rose Dragee to stack as a set - black set and pale pink set... Thoughts?
