Ode to Silver

I am a big H silver fan, indeed, a silver fan in general (like Mexican designs, some Scandinavian, and modernist). The bookstores are cutting back on magazines, perhaps b/c the companies (Vogue, etc.) don't have the resources to go to shows and write reviews during the pandemic. However, I did manage to get a new issue of the Vogue Collections for Spring/Summer 2022.

Someone posted a Hermes fashion show from 2011 here a while back. I was thrilled by all the silver jewelry worn by the models, and I suspect I have some of the pieces (the pictures were a little small to tell for sure).

However, the 2022 Hermes collection according to the couple of pages shown in the magazine (that's all anybody gets) did not show any silver jewelry I could see. Instead there were various leather bracelets, curvy ones made of strips and loops, not the slab of leather used to made the CDC cuffs. They did look nice but as a silver fan I was a bit dismayed. But change is what drives fashion. So, I thought I'd post this to hopefully get a feel for what people are finding in the boutiques. l

I got a pair of the silver Chaine D'Ancre stud earrings and when I took them out last night my ear holes started bleeding!

I cleaned them with alcohol and they were a little painful to put in this morning but we'll see what happens when I take them out tonight.

Has anyone had this happen to them?
One pierced ear in particular is more sensitive to metals, notably the copper which is the metal alloy that strengthens silver (otherwise it would be really soft). I've had to have the piercing redone in that ear b/c leaving the earring off so the irritation settles down gives the piercing a chance to close. I can't go a week without wearing something, a stud, whatever, to keep the ear functional.

I've also been allergic to 18K gold. It's ok to wear hoops b/c the wire that goes thru the ear is pretty small. But big chunky earrings that I liked a lot would lead to intense itching and and when I took the earring the post would stick to the ear, causing a bit of bleeding. Took them to the jeweler but he couldn't find a way around it.

If I wear silver earrings attached to wires, I get by. Having the silver flush against my ear (as the gold was) is irritating.

Am looking into the large CDC silver bracelet, but am afraid of tarnishing. What are your experiences with tarnishing or upkeep of H silver jewelry? I did a search but didn't come up with anything on this topic.

This is the bracelet:

I have one and it doesn't tarnish at all. Hermes bracelets don't tarnish IMO. The silver brightens up from buffing with a silver polishing cloth but there is never any dark tarnish on the silver that needs to to be removed.

I was thinking of the shrunken leather CDC's but they're not technically silver. However, 3 years ago I got the narrow CDC in all silver as well as the Kelly narrow bracelet. I stack them with silver bangles (non-H) so that I have an arm party going on. Wearing both narrow CDCs is an ok look, wearing one by itself, well, it gets lost on me.

I have stopped buying leather CDCs now that they shrunk.

In my experience, it does tarnish fairly quickly but a simple swipe of a polishing clothe leaves it looking like new.
I agree about buffing the silver with a polishing cloth. I just see the silver dull slightly over time but it brightens up quickly with the cloth.
Thank you! It's a Barenia Faubourg Fauve B25.
It figures. :)
