To my knowledge the only long silver necklaces that they sell are the farandole and the new modern version of the chain d'ancre.

I have the largest chain d'ancre GM which is thick but there is nothing longer in the chain d'ancre line. Here it is.

Thank you for your quick answer PocketBookPup! I love the way you wear the GM size of chain d'ancre! If I understand correctly, Etcetera is a single multistrand/multichain necklace, which makes it a little less wearable every day than what I've in mind. Still beautiful, though.

I have the feeling the trend is more toward dainty jewelry, so I may have to wait until heavier chains are back in style :)

Such a chic and elegant look, PbP!

Thank you!

Yes I like longer chunky necklaces too. The farandole is quite substantial and I wear mine very often. Try it if you don't have one. It's so versatile.

I've never seen a Farandole 160 in person, to be honest. It is thicker than the 120, correct? The 120 is a bit too thin for me (thin chains seem to irritate the skin of my neck). Would you have a modeling picture of the 160, or even just a picture of it side by site with the Chain D'Ancre GM? I'm sorry if it is too much to ask.
Thanks again for your informative reply!

I have a farandole 120. I was under the impression that they were the same except for length but maybe I'm wrong.

I have the 160 (and love it) and I'm pretty sure the 80, 120 and 160cms are the same thickness. The Chaine d'Ancre necklaces (and bracelets) come in different thicknesses (PM, MM, GM and TGM for the bracelets; I'm not sure if there are an equal number of variations for the necklaces). HTH!

Ok, thanks for the confirmation.
I will wait patiently for the next trend :-)

All sizes of the Farandole are the same thickness, but I couldn't call it a thin necklace at all!

I have a 160 cm and love that length as I like the fact it can be worn two, three or even four times around the neck [ as well around as the waist]
The Chain d'Ancre are the same length [ v short] but differ in thickness, the GM being very chunky . The GM looks best IMO

Ok, i may go to my store and give it a second look. The wait on a new trend may be too much, i am not the very patient type :-)

I love chunky statement pieces. The delicate look gets lost on me. I love the chunky silver I presume Pierre Hardy designed for H some 10 years ago.

I must admit I haven't worn the Quark much since I got it (kept it in the box and was out of sight out of mind. Have to remedy that!) So I can't tell you how it would look with dings all round although mine already has a couple or two plus teeny tiny hairline scratches. It still looks good and the high shine on the silver masks the dings similar to my other silver pieces (unless one is inspecting very closely). IMO the Quark is an outstanding design being one whole piece of stunning silver with a surprise coloured resin underneath. I understand it was a limited run and was a very special design. I highly recommend it.

I have one and don't regret it. It seems solid enough that it doesn't get dings. Now scratches, yes, all silver gets that. I've begun getting older pieces repolished for a bright shiny look (I am not a fan of what people call silver patina, which a lot of times seems to be an accumulation of dirt and tr

Thank you both so much for your input! I'm heartened by your reports and have decided to go for it. I love how it looks, and as Ms. Piggy says, it really is a special design. My understanding from an SA in Paris was that the Quark was a classic Hermes design for a very long time and was offered each year with red, black, or orange resin until it was discontinued. Then it was revived only for one season and offered with the orange resin (my favorite color for it anyway) and is no longer being issued. I feel lucky there are still some from the limited reissue out there to be bought!
