Ode to Silver

I'm excited to have a couple of things to add to this thread. Nothing that hasn't been seen here before-- but I do have a little trick to share for the Farandole necklace. I've got the 160cm, which I love-- I'm tall, and I like dramatic jewelry anyway, so as far as I'm concerned it could be twice as long! Nonetheless, there are times when I want to be able to wear it as a single chain, and I find it drops a bit too low for me on those occasions-- I want more of the 120cm look then. I know some people do one close loop around the neck and then one long loop for a similar look, but I find I fidget with the Farandole if I wear it this way. The solution, for me, is a sterling silver necklace shortener, acquired via Amazon for $10:

The shortener lets me clip through a couple of the chaine d'ancre links in order to shorten my Farandole.

I just let the excess fall down my back (alternatively, it could be dropped down a blouse to conceal it). If I bend over fully at the waist to pick something up, the "tail" of the shortened necklace sometimes swings over my shoulder, but I don't find this especially bothersome. From the front it looks like the 120cm does on me.

The shortener can also be used to hold the loops of the necklace evenly, or to create and stabilize twists with other necklaces (I've done a hasty job with this faux pearl/Farandole twist, but you get the idea). As you can tell, I'm a fan of this cheap little shortener, since it's made an incredibly versatile necklace that much more manipulable.

Finally, a second piece of silver, the Arabesque bracelet. I find the name especially appropriate because I hadn't given the H silver so much as a glance until lovely TPFer Arabesques opened my eyes to its beauty.

You are are as clever as you are beautiful calexandre, and very elegant bracelet, These things you will be able to wear forever

Simple understated, just so perfect

Is there anyone who is petite and purchased the 120cm Farandole? I'm slim and 5'0 and think the 120cm necklace will look too much on me, so I should get the 80cm :confused1:

Hello janni8080,

For reference, I'm 5'-5" and in photo below, I'm wearing my 120 Farandole. I think the best length for you, depends upon how you want to wear it. Single strand, as I'm wearing mine, would hang down quite low on you. But if you plan on doubling it (either even lengths, or uneven), the 120 would be fine.

Do you have a local boutique? Best to try both and compare. If not, measure out a piece of string 80cm (approx. 32") long, and another at 120cm (approx. 47"). This will give you an idea of which will be best. Best wishes finding your perfect Farandole! :smile1:

I'm 5'0" and not currently slim, but am on my way to slim and I have the 120. I love it. I like wearing it long or doubled. Part of me really wants the 160, too. :p

Thanks for your help :D, I decided on the 80 cm Farandole, the 120 cm was too much for my small frame.

I was looking to buy one of the colorful leather bracelets for the longest time, but after reading this thread, I was inspired by silver :) I think silver is better suited for my life style (or too lazy to take my jewlery on and off daily...) and more understated. So yesterday I bought a Farandole bracelet :)
As I said, I don't switch off my jewelry daily, so I plan to shower and sleep with my Farandole bracelet on. Has anyone done that? Does your bracelet needs to be polished often?

I know many of us are in love with silver Hermes jewelry.....and there are so many unusual H silver pieces....let's share some pics and

Two breloques work as a bracelet if you loop one end inside the charm

We all live in an industrial society so there is grime in the air whether we can see it or not. The underside and corners of the links can accumulate a bit of grime so bracelets worn regularly can need cleaning in addition to polishing. Continuous wear can accelerate this process compared with intermittent wear.

Rings that are worn continuously--even just during the daytime--get wear. It takes maybe years for this wear to be evident, tho.
