I have been eyeing the samourais shawl for a while and thought I wanted a CW06. I popped round to my local store to see it in person but thought it looks a bit plain in real life - and I thought CW05 looked much better! I wanted a plain one (hence CW06) originally so I can wear it to work on a regular basis but now I am torn. I usually just wear black, blue or grey.

If you can only own one - which would you pick?

Both! Just kidding. It depends on your complexion and wardrobe. I love both colorways, but I think CW05 edges out CW06 in terms of colors. But both are so beautiful. Good luck!

Thanks thanks! I knew you would say that and I wish I could have both! Which colourway do you think would suit the colour ‘sauge’ better? Most of my Hermes bags are in blue (which is what prompted me to get cw06 in the first place) but I do have one bag in sauge which I am still struggling to find a something to go with!

Sauge appears to be a great neutral. My gut feeling thinks that CW06 would match better.

06 is perfect for me. I wanted a subtle, blendy look to go with my denim/gray/navy-based wardrobe.

I had the same problem too, mulled over cw5 and 6 for days. The colors on 5 are amazing and the samourai design on 5 stands out more than 6 imo. One thing i hesitated about 5 was the orangey tassels so in the end i went with 6... the “safer” choice as its a neutral and as a blues lover the blues on it stood out more vs 5 and how the blues tied together was stunning .

For sauge i THINK 6 goes better but if you are drawn to 5 more go for that one there will always be other shawls to go with sauge. Have you tried green shawls? I think they will go well given sauge has a green undertone.

Thanks all for your valuable opinions. I am naturally more drawn to colourful stuff (hence my heart says 05) but I know I will get more use out of more muted design (so my head says 06!). I had the Sangles en Zigzag shawl in bright red/green/blue and it’s love at first sight, and whilst I love looking at it, I have actually worn it less than 5 times. So perhaps I will try following my head this time round.

I was in the same boat as you. I wanted both but in real life, although beautiful, 06 read a little flat in comparison to 05. Still, I would have gotten both but 09 was a surprise winner so I left with 05 and 09.

Stopped into Madison yesterday - they didn't have 06 but they had the light blue Robe du Soir CSGM, which I have also been wanting to see, and for Samourais they had 05.....OMG.
CW 05 is just STUNNING IRL and even though I am scared of color, and know I'll find 06 eventually I could not resist. 05 made the RdS look .... safe, and just not as cool.
Now I'm reading 70 pages of thread to get tying inspiration on this CW as the saumon freaks me out a bit

FYI, the absinthe Samourais CSGM CW is also in stock at Madison (not to mention that Robe du Soir, which is lovely and is hard to find!).

Interesting discussion on which blue cw is the better one...initially I thought 05 would be it, but once I saw 06 it knew there could be two in my closet. One has deeper, richer shades of blue while the other is softer and more elegant imho.

And I haven’t even mentioned 03...that was the first to come home! I have to stop (sorry, @Hrookie, I’m no help whatsoever!). Honestly, you can’t go wrong with either one, I think you’d be happy regardless.

Yahoooo, @QuelleFromage! Congrats on your acquisition on 05. I think it was mentioned a few posts ago that 05 was online! Perhaps you can have your SA do a search? I'd keep the link bookmarked. Both are gorgeous.

My will is weak... I ended up getting both in the end! I hope Hermes doesn’t make any other CSGMs as nice as this one for the rest of the year! Otherwise my wallet will be in trouble!

Not sure which one matches the sauge better though? But I am happy regardless!
