new(ish) to the site and just found this thread today. Have been binge reading and loving everyone's passion for the beautiful scarf. I feel blessed to have my three (05 and 11 in the 90 and a 140 in the blue and salmon). So great to see how everyone is styling the scarves!! Thank you also to the individuals who have posted photos of the exhibit of the Samurai!:heart:
I am only on page 71, so I still have a lot to read. But glass of wine and Survivor is calling me for the moment.

Make it four now!! Picked up the lovely 90 in CW 08 in Boston yesterday. My SA had it brought in for someone who changed their mind. My purple and pink precious!! I blame Joannadyne for showing it off and making it so irresistible!! I HAD to!

I gotta say, the more I look at these pieces, the more I enjoy them. I managed to finally use my cw03 with my SO B25 - each for the first time - at a very special event (DS1 singing at Carnegie Hall). Between some downtime waiting (his call time was four hours before show time) and passing some fun time with my mom (BG is only two blocks away) I just love love love this piece.

Some of the colors are not usually me, but looking at the details - the delicate peach and green floral motif on an edge, shades of gray interspersed with Rouge h, sapphire blue and more peach in another detail - the colorists really got it right this time.

Now, I am going to say something that I'm sure won't be popular. Just my opinion, of course, and feel free to disagree.

I give these pieces a quick once over before purchase and that's it. I agree the cashmere durability is not what it once was - but 'once' in this case is now about 15 years ago and beyond, and that's not coming back. I will not pick over these pieces with a magnifying glass because I am sure there will be minor imperfections, just as I am sure there have been plenty of minor imperfections in the cashmeres over the years.

A hole or a stain or a run - of course, completely unacceptable!!! - but I am seeing just a few photos around here (and maybe not even on this thread, I am saying 2018 cashmeres in general) with incredibly minor issues that I would not necessarily consider a flaw for returning.

I think we have become a lot more picky - probably not in small part due to the crazy price increases, hey, 15 years ago these shawls cost half of what they do now - but I really doubt that most shawls are perfect-perfect, and perhaps they have never been. I just don't recall any of us poring that closely over every inch of the shawls back then - we looked, of course, but with perhaps a slightly more generous eye - and, in my opinion, I have seen a shawl or two here (again not necessarily on this thread) that I personally would not have sent back.

I hope that I have not offended anyone with my post here, it's just my opinion and feel free to disregard or flog me with a wet noodle!

Thank you, BBC, for your "review" of this colorway. It's high on my list and have recently been put off buying from H.com because of the quality issues. Ideally, I'd much rather purchase from my SA (but she's 3 hours away, so I can't just swing by to check out any recent scarf arrivals).

As I said in the mousseline thread, I am so new to H scarves and don't have any points of comparison to those of yesteryear. I can only remark upon my purchases in the past 2 years. My Les Confessions has teeny tiny flaws that took a lot of effort to discover. I am no connoisseur (at least, yet) so am able to more easily lend a blind eye and just enjoy my scarves.

Thank you for "validating" my outlook on my less than perfect confections of silk. :flowers:

Regarding the quality issues, I think everyone's tolerance level is a bit different. So I'm fine with everyone setting their own limits. I tend to expect variations in things like how hems are rolled and sewn, because these are hand made items. In that regard, I don't feel the need to look carefully. But, like you, I do check quickly for runs, holes, and pulls, as I expect new shawls to be free of those!

Regarding the weight issue, apparently they were heavier in the past, and that possibly made them more resilient. I can't compare, as I didn't start buying CSGMs until 4 years ago because of my moderate climate. But I find the weight of mine plenty heavy, it's a lot of fabric!

I hope everyone who has had difficulty with quality issues this season finds a happy resolution!

Everything BBC said. And congrats on DS1's Carnegie Hall gig.
