I've always loved the Birkin and the Kelly for their beautiful designs and been undecided on which one I should get first. Just when I've finally told myself I'd like to go for a B30 in a dark neutral, my wonderful genie of an SA offered me a K25 retourne in sauge GHW.... So now I'm back to the drawing block. As a first Kelly/Birkin bag, would you go for a K25 and one in a light colour? The pictures here have been very helpful, I was worried I can't put much in but I'm less worried about that now.

I currently have a Bolide 31 in Etoupe, a Bolide 27 in Rose Jaipur and a Lindy 30 in Gold, which was why I was tending towards a dark neutral. Would Sauge be too close to my current colours esp the Etoupe? I was so excited I forgot to ask about the leather😞

Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance!

I would go for it if you like the color. K25 is very hard to find, but finding a dark B30 should not be so hard later.

Thanks Giuliana, that is so true, reason why I'm so torn is because a K25 is so hard to find, I'm not sure when I'd be offered another one... I wish I could but I don't see myself having too many Bs and Ks so I'd like to make sure that I get bags that I love but also compliment the rest of my existing H bags😅

I have only seen the sauge swatch but liked it so much that I almost ordered a Birkin 30 in it last year. I would think of this color as a very good neutral, much like etoupe, and with GHW, absolutely beautiful. My Kelly 25 is my most used bag, so this would be impossible for me to resist!

I think the K25 complements your current collection well. Thinking about would other K sizes you might get, I would not get K32 since you have a bolide 31 and lindy 30 which are similar in function. Also, K32 would be similar to B30, so if you are looking for a B30, you don't need the K32. Then, the other option would be K28 (assuming you don't want a large bag like K35), but you already have the bolide 27. Is the bolide 27 more similar to K28 or K25? I have not seen them compared, but I would think you can use the K25 for evening occasions where the bolide might not work. In general, it depends on the purpose for which you would like the bag. I find the K28 the most versatile size, but K25 works better for evening and dressy occasions, so I am hoping to get one too.

If you like using your bolide 27
K25 shouldn't be a problem
Go for it first if you can accept this color
Not many stores like to order smaller bags
Dont miss this chance
Another b30 will come along soon
Next bag perhaps

I've only seen the swatch for sauge too, the more I think about it, actually it would look really good with GHW... I think I am slowly coming round to the idea of a light neutral bag, now I can't wait to see it next week! So glad to hear that your Kelly 25 is your most used, I like to carry my bags, it's sad when they stay in their orange boxes so it's good to know that I should have no problems enjoying a k25. Thanks!

Wow, I didn't think of the similarity in size between a K32 and B30 vs. my current bags, thanks for the advice! I personally feel that a Kelly or Birkin will stand out too much at my workplace so my Bolides are my work bags , love their understated style. A K25 would be good for dressy occasions.

Love love love my Bolide 27 for its size, it is surprising spacious and so light compared to the Lindy. I'm going to see if next week, can't wait!

I'm doing some "research" on the K25.

Are u able to open and close the bag (turnlock) with 1 hand when its carried on the shoulder? I can't stand it when I have to use both hands to close my bag :(

on a sellier K yes, not on a K in swift...! maybe a K retourne in epsom can do too...i have one is swift and i need both hands unless i wear it cross body..

it's just the natural feel of the leather..the same problem exists with my togo and clemence kelly too in the larger sizes. my swift k25 doesn't slouch but in the bigger sizes, it probably will, as will togo and clemence.
