To all the EL Kimonos shawl owners, have your closely inspect your shawl for pulls and snags when you purchased from the store ? I bought two and never inspected them as I assume that they are perfect since it is from the store. Today, I found that both of them have several pulls and I'm wondering if it is due to customers trying it on and putting it in and out of drawers.

I'm gonig to exchange it since I've never worn it but am a bit shocked as this is my first cashmere shawl. I never had any problems with silk carres before, or maybe there are small imperfections but I just never bother to check.

Just wondering what everyone experiences are. The EL shawl design is so busy that it would be hard to detect it without looking up close.

Absolutely- unless I see a new c/s shawl come directly out of the plastic bag in the store, I always, always, always inspect before purchase. I have found pulls on several occasions at the BH boutique (the SA smugly replies to my pointing them out with "the shawls get caught on our customers' big diamonds" - oh brother.....). Damage is more likely to occur as the season wears on as well and the shawls stay in the drawers and get pawwed and tried on. I try not to buy late in the season.

I suggest you return/exchage ASAP so that they do not try to blame you for the damage. This can be a real problem with charge sends especially- I have received damaged shop-worn merchandise on more than one occasion. The hassle is not worth it and I no longer buy from afar where I cannot visually inspect for myself for this reason.

Please do not try to justify the damage- at these prices, you should have a brand new perfect shawl. For me, it would keep me up at night fretting about the damage. Return the shawl now! Good luck!

So sorry to hear this chkpfbeliever, especially since it is your first cash/silk shawl you would expect it to be perfect. I received mine fresh from the store, it had not been tried on by anyone before. I noticed that the gm does snag/pull and pill easily. However, I use mine quite heavily without much babying and have only experienced two pulls. But the pull can be easily repaired by hand if it is not serious or very slight. In this busy design it is very easy to do. But the issue here is that you received a supposedly new not to mention expensive first shawl with flaws, so if you are unhappy you should return it. Ps:Could you take a pic of the snag at all?

The snarkiness and backhanded remarks don't bother me a bit- I have come to expect it at BH. I should bill them for pointing out damaged mdse so they can remove it from inventory and not lose their precious clients with the big jewelry (ie., the Kardashians and their ilk, etc).

Thanks Ladies for your advice. I'll exchange the shawls tomorrow. Will try to upload a photo to share. I had no idea how easy they pull and after owning 30 silk carres purchased from the stores, I would have no idea that this could happen to such an expensive item.

I would be really mad if they tell me that it is my fault since I don't have long fingernails and have not even opened the box since I purchased them until this week when I decided to take it out. In Vegas, the stores actually keep them in the plastic bags as I've seen the SA pulled the drawers out. In my local store, they are all stored in the drawers without the plastic and shown frequently to the customers.

chkpfbeliever,

I heard this from another H scarfie too and although she was very known to the SAs she could not exchange the shawl.

Good Luck!
