Docride stopped recommending Blackrock because some people were having problems with it because they were heavy handed in their application.

I have used Saphir Renovateur successfully on box.
It might be slightly thinner than Universell

I haven't seen @catsinthebag around the forum lately (:hugs: cats!) but I believe she has a gorgeous Rouge Vif Box bag. Vif is a true clear red, maybe the closest to a lipstick red that H makes. It's beautiful.
Rouge H from the 80s and 90s isn't usually as dark as, say, Bordeaux, so for me it works really well with winter colors. Really depends on dye lot. But sounds like Vif is more up your alley.

Interestingly I find current Box calf to be quite shimmery, like the best of the 80s/90s/oughts, and the colors are lovely. I would say these two bags below IRL are almost exactly the same color.

Box is shiny and gets shinier, not matte, Chamonix is matte.

'90s RH below. I'd say the photo makes it look warmer, slightly more brown. I'm looking at the real bag on my piano right now and it has more wine/pink tones IRL.

Recent RH Box has been more brown, not more burgundy but QF's '23 looks very much like mine from the '90s

RV is bright red. The shine makes it look even brighter, especially in sunshine.

I understand why it is good to have a complete set, but I would not let it be a deal breaker.
Use the lack of lock/key to negotiate a reduction if you can.
But seriously, would you be using them - even as charms.
If you look through the threads with pictures of Kelly's and Birkins in use, you will find a very small percentage show locks and keys.

My 3 Box Kellys. Rouge H — 2010, Chocolate — 1992, and BBK is from 1996.
@Goldenbelle , both of my 90s box K32’s are amazing. I would just be sure there is a flexible return policy should you purchase a vintage K from a reseller. My BBK arrived yesterday from FP and is a bit dry, as you mentioned you are concerned about. I am sending her to docride next week who will give her a nice conditioning and will weatherproof her too. When she returns home i will post an after shot.

@jbags07 thank you for sharing your amazing bags - I hope I get as lucky… I just found an 1993 32 kelly in Rouge vif that looks really great on picture - and can be returned :). I‘ll kept you posted once it arrives early next week, hopefully! I am in Europe so docride is no options for me unfortunately….

@papertiger thank you for your insights! I fully agree - I’ve seen a Rouge H box Constance from 2022/21 which definitively had a kind of brownish touch to it - so I am trying the rouge vif path now. Or black. Let’s see what I find, it always comes down to the bag itself, if it appeals to you or not.

But I am definitely more relaxed about the age by now and the pictures you have posted just encourage me more!

Your bags are adorable! You can see them shimmering even across the web! I think this is a good way to go for me, too…

Looking forward to seeing pix of your Kelly, i hope its everything you wished for :) Rouge Vif in box will be :heart: There is so much info here on conditioning so you can do it yourself easily too, since docride is not an option for you. Thank u for your kind words about my bags, it was a lot of work finding the right ones:lol: i would love to add one in a navy or blue indigo too. Box is my favorite H leather.
